Hey,
Ive been really good, sticking to what I can and cannot eat, but was at a du last night and friends who have had babies in the last few years were all saying that eating prawns were fine. Then one person said, well I didnt and I wouldnt and I soooo wanted them, but I had boring soup instead, as the the other option was pate!! Ive looked on the net and its mixed advice??? xx

I think they are ok if they are cooked properly as part of a meal like soup or curry. I cant see any specific guidelines on the government website, so i think its up to you really, as long as you are sure they are cooked well.

I dont like prawns so hasnt been an issue - generally i have avoided anything i wasnt sure about, just in case, as i didn't want to risk it xxx

I've eaten what I want in moderation x prawns are fine as long as they're cooked properly (like you'd eat under cooked prawns anyway! x

I had a craving for prawns so I must admit I have been scoffing them as much as I want. I was told by my MW that if they've been peeled then cooked then they're fine but if they were cooked in they're shell then they're not ok. I think it's something to do with bacteria getting under the shell which is why we've been told to generally avoid shellfish. I must admit that I've eaten both types and bab is flip flopping around just fine so I can only assume that no damage has been done. :D

xxx

Ive also avoided them but i gotta admit i did eat a teeny weeny peice of sushi now and again in 1st tri

I have eaten them loads - defrosted under cold running water then in sandwiches and salads. The main thing with prawns is food poisoning :)

I've been eating them, mind you i've eaten everything on the banned list

Thanks everyone! It seems ive been missing out for nothin haha. So prawn cocktail and stuff is fine? Cant wait to go out next! xx

Vixforever, thanks for the link too, that helps! Are scollaps ok? cooked in a restaurant? x

i dont eat them because it was on the not to list im pretty well behaved apart from runny yolks on my fried aggs becasue not runny is just wrongness! i wouldnt eat any from a restraunt tho as id be wanting to know they had been prepared properly

I've had a craving for egg and prawn sandwiches. Since I've gone off most foods, I'm eating whatever I can. Sod the silly advice. If I followed every single bit of official advice, I'll only be able to eat bread and nowt else! I've never had food poisoning and I can't see why all of a sudden I'll get it now just cos I'm pregnant. In fact I'm far more likely to be run over by a bus than getting sick by eating a fried egg butty, is there advice telling pregnant women not to leave their houses!?

Apart from pate and certain cheese i have eaten everything as normal. The only prawns i have eaten have been cooked by myself or people i know though. I say just go for it, everything in moderation.

I have been craving them ! so had lots, prob the only naughty thing I have been eating, thhey have been on special too for ages so that hasn't helped, prob don't eat enougth protein normally as not big on cheese of lots of meat , so I think at least i'm getting lots this way.

i have only avoided pate and the cheeses your not allowed i think aslong as you know they are fresh you are ok xx
