What Im wondering is how important is pelvic floor exercises I know later on in life if you do them it stops you from peeing yourself. How many should you do a day and how long for?

ps only started doing them now after labour

Adele, I have had an op for this, when I was 20, it is soooooo important. Mine was due to a weekness when a kid they said, and the op near sorted it for me. it has taken a bashing now with three kids, and this last pregnancy is very hard when washing hands or brushing teath, I really have to cross my legs, and wear a panty liner just incase I cough or sneese without bracing, holding my tum!

The op is what happens if the exersizes don't work for you or help enougth, I have now two plastic clips, which you can feel through the skin (sort of eitherside of your lady garden!) these do unfortunatly swell a little and get sore each peiod time! and pregnancy they normally do it all the time, and I have to sleep with a pillow between knees normally. This time, my boy bump is soo high they have not bothered me yet, but the weight on my bladder has not helped still.

I have freinds who have had big babies, that have been wearing tena lady towels when doing sport etc , which is a real nusceince.

I am going to get that little gadget from boots to help with the correct exersizes after I have the baby this time, as for me, its really important to get it sorted. (I really don;'t care how much it costs either, this means soo much to me)

They always say find somethign you do several times a day and then always make a point of doing your exersizes while doing that , and it will end up that you never forget and it becomes normal, rather than havnig to find the time to do them - and do lots of them!

Eg making a cup or tea or waiting for water to boil, or walking through a doorway etc

thanks alot jj you made me realise how important they really are then i never really thought about it before until i gave birth and people told me what can happen if u dont do them. I have been doing them the past couple of days whilst sitting on the laptop its one of those things though that are quite hard to remember. I have been doing roughly 20 or 30 is this ok ?

So exactly what should we be doing if we're doing them properly?

Is it to tightens the muscles you'd use if you were stop peeing mid flow or something more than that?? Want to make sure I'm doing it right.

i just kinda squeeze in and squueze out its kinda weird to explain i just do that roughly 20 to 30 times is this right?

it aint really squeezing either just really lightly
