Pcos and metformin Help!!!!

HELLO LADIES. I WAS TOLD BY MY OBGYN THAT I HAVE PCOS, notOVER WEIGHT SO SHE HAS GIVEN ME METFOR 500MG TWICE A DAY.I JUST STARTED THE MEDs the BEGINNING OF THE MONTH. HAS ANYONE BEE SUCCESSFUL WITH CONCEIVING?? PLEASE I NEED ADVICE. BUT I DID GET AF THIS MONTH WHILE TAKING IT. IT DIDNT LAST THE NORMAL 6-7 DA LASTED AT LEAST 2/3 DAYS. Need advice. Help

I had my first period after about 5-6 weeks of taking it (I hadn't had one for 9 months prior to that!) so it has worked in that sense but I was also prescribed clomid shortly after, they wanted metformin in my system before I started taking clomid,

My first af was heavy but then since then they have been light, not sure if they are connected.

I read lots of good stories about metformin, did your doc say they will give you clomid?

No she's not going to

I have PCOS but my doctor said metformin wasn't for me. Strange because I am overweight but I think she perhaps thinks that there are other issues at play. My advice would be to stick with it & see how it goes. I suppose we have to trust that the doctors know what they are doing.

I agree with Sugarpop, stick with it and see how it goes, if it diesnt work they may perscribe you something stronger (ie clomid) and apparently the two combined work great so at least you will have it in your system.

Me too, one positive thing to take from the metformin is you have had a period so you are responding well to it

Yes but didn't stay long

Mine didn't either which means we probably never ovulated but our bodies went through the motions anyway.

I had one at the start of june that lasted 2 days & was very light and then 3 weeks later I had another proper one (still quite light but the blood was red - sorry if tmi)

Give it a couple of months to get in your system, if no improvement there are other drugs.

I am taking clomid I'm on cd11 and my boobs have started to get sore so in taking that as a sign on impending ovulation

Know this might sound crazy but what's is impending ovulation? I'm on cd13, on metformin

I was diagnosed with PCOS in july 2012 started on 500mg metformin twice a day in august and got pregnant the beginning of November 2012, happy to say I had a very easy pregnancy until the end where our princess was being lazy so had an emergency c-section. She will be 1 in two weeks. Keep your chin up, it can and will happen but dont fret.
