I often post in TTC and in my TTC journal. I'm now looking around the whole forum and seen this.

Well i'm Charlotte, I'm 20 live with my OH at my parent's house. We both work full time and barely see each other.

I have PCOS and have had since I wasabout 12. I have always been overweight, probs due to my PCOS and yes I DID eat all the wrong things. I take Metformin SR 3 times a day to try and get my hormones level. However, in Summer 2011 I was diagnosed with Psoratic Arthritis and Osteoarthritis. I take Diclofenac 3 times a day but I need to take Methatrexate to help it properly as I have this quite severe and progressing quickly. My Rheumatologist has referred me to my gynaecologist as URGENT so help me TTC.

I was told by my Gynaecologist that I need to lose atleast 2 stone in weight before they do any tests to see if I am ovulating and whats happening etc..

As you can guess this is REALLY hard with me being in lots of pain with my arthritis so can't exercise as much as I would like. I am eating as healthy as possible. I have a banana and bran flakes for breakfast, and then i have a yoghurt with half a tin of peaches and small bowl of cereal for my dinner and mum makes stuff for tea that is healthy and I just have a small portion. I do try and go for walks on the weekends with my Dad and the dogs but it is so hard and painful. I am signing upto a gym so I can go swimming as this is much easier!

I just wish life was so much easier and all my problems would hurry up and be fixed!!

Charlotte :)

Well I had tests re-done just to clarify I still had PCOS, but that was by my GP. Other than that I have had zilch tests. The gynaecologist said it's pointless while i'm overweight. But to me it's not pointless as I know if I'm oving or not now and whats going on now rather just lingering??

Hi Hun

So sorry to hear your going through pain.

I have an illness where i have to take diclofenic when im in pain aswell.

I dont understand why they wont atleast test you to see if you are ovulating. I know they say you shouldnt go by the OPK's but can you not do them just to see if you get a positive. My doctor told me not to stress myself out by doing OPK's but i have too for piece of mind!!

How will taking Methotraxate affect you? Do you have to be on this premanatly? I had to have a methotraxate injection when i had my ectopic pregnancy.

Have you tried slimming world? I lost a stone in 3 months on that diet and have managed to keep it off and loose a further 8 pounds by just eating healthier. it teaches you how to eat what you want but in healthy way.

Like you i cannot excercise much without it triggering my illness so have to maintain my diet instead.

I know it is hard but it will be worth it in the end.

N xx

If u have problems doing activity and exercise a strict calroie controlled diet would do the trick. Slimming world or weight watchers would be good. I can't believe your gp is so un-helpful! At the moment are u having periods? An easy way to see if u r ovulating is a progesterone blood test. It needs done 7 daysa after ovulation which I know is more rare with pcos. Do u use opks at all??

I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and use to be on diclofenac 3 times a day. The only exercise i can do is swimmimg and walking which sometimes causes so much pain but if i dont i get so stiff its a nightmare!!

I often worry what it will be like when i am pg but hopefully i might get better. I would defo give it a few more months and then go back to gp im sure that they could do the 21day bloods what ever your weight as its only a blood test??!!

Fx for you hun.

Michelle. x

Hiya hun I had to pop in and read this.

I too have PCOS and athritus! Metformin helped me loose 4 stone in weight but I've had to stop ALL athritus meds as soon as I got my BFP.

I have athritus on my L5/S1 right facet joint, right hip and it's starting in my neck too at C3 and C4.

Don't worry you WILL get pregnant and have a healthy baby.
Have they talked thru your labout options with you too? I have to wait until I see midwife again on Monday for that but they reckon C section only :/

Hang in there hun - PS I'm only 30 and had it for 13 years so know how you feel :) *hugs*

I do currently take metformin but doesnt really seem to be helping im on 3000mg a day i think well its three tablets of torpeedo size haha. I take two at night and one in the morning. I have tried to cut down on my diclofenac to see if it helps a little bit. I LOVE my new job so my healthy eating is goin really well. I take 3 pieces of fruit in and a yoghurt for my dinner on a friday i have a sandwhich from a sandwhich place in town which is scrummy i have chinese chicken with lettuce and onion.

Anyway... Sorry its two posts i had ro rush off out to my brothers!! X x

That is a high dose so should be working or doing something at least. I'm only on 1500mg (3 tablets a day, 1 with each meal)

I hate it when GPs etc say loose weight but exercise is really hard and painful with athritus. Go back and badger them hun saying nothing is working and your eating healthy!
They have a duty of care to you.

Hi Charlotte... I have arthritis which mainly affects my knee joints but I'm not overweight. When I was diagnosed I saw a nutrionist so woukd highly recommend you see one as they can help with food suggestions and diet plans. I gave up red and White meat as a result and eat lots of fish. I also recently stopped wheat and gluten which can be expensive but well worth it. I findbit difficult to exercise properly as it aggravates my joints but I walk a lot. I do 6 miles every Saturday and get off the tube a stop earlier on my way home from work which is just over a mile walk to home. I'm also a big yoga fan which helps keep your joints supple. I hope these suggestions help you.

Thanks. Ive had a food nutritionist and i piled on the weight so i decided against one. Well my food i eat is quite healthy as i am lactose intolerant so i have soya milk, i have gluten problems so i have brown bread, wholegrain rice an pasta, but its how much i eat :/. I have ways been big, not an excuse but it is time to change for my health aswell as TTC!! On the plus side I have had a period :). I wanted to try that bollywood dancing thing... X
