Ansolute guttered.

Me and my husband have just found out that we are not going to get the free NHS funding for IVF because my husband went through half an Ivf cycle with his ex about 16 years ago even though none of us have got children.

Does any one know how much a cycle costs roughly or what our best options are?

I’m completely in shock today and don’t know what to do.

Thank you so much

Hi @Kimb28

We paid £5k for the IVF, which included £1k of medication. Prior to that I paid around about £250 for all the blood tests and £450 for the Hycosy. So all in all nearly £6k.

There is a website where you can review the clinics closest to where you live. ( I found it easily on google I think) It's an official scoring based on performance as well as peoples reviews.

The money was a huge pressure for us so I understand your shock. There are open days you can go along to to get a feel for the staff and the clinic so you could find out if the tests you've already had done are accepted by the clinic (some insist on doing their own) and how long the tests are valid for. I think the AMH needs done annually, the Hycosy may be 2 years but that's a guess)

Good luck x

Aw hun I'm sorry. The rules are so strict on the NHS. We've just paid about 4.5k for ours. We were on short course which is why it may have been cheaper than bambis.

Will the NHS still not do your tests for you? Huge hugs x

Oh Hun I’m sorry, I’m in the same boat no nhs funding, not even for most of our investigations!

We’ve started clomid as a first step but the clinic were very open and clear about there fees and most have different ways to bring them down through egg/sperm sharing or different finance options etc x

Oh, I am sorry. It mainly depends on a clinic and also a country. We underwent our treatment in Poland, cos it was much cheaper. We paid EUR3,000 (treatment in top clinic, meds, flights and accommodation)
