So i had a laparoscopy last apr and was given IV paracetamol after it and also after a bad bout of gastro at 30 weeks, the stuff is magic, the nurses dont know why but when paracetamol is given via IV it seems to become like morphine, anyway since last yr my hospital (warrington) are offering it for labor, even though its more expensive than other things, just wondered if anyone has had it in their labor and what they thought of it? I'm group B strep so need an IV anyway.

No I haven't heard of it for labour. I'm at Liverpool women's and they don't offer it but they bloody should, it sounds great! x

I wasn't offered in labour but last time a laboured was nearly 5 years ago but I was offered it when I went in when I was miscarrying in 2010. I was on an emergency assessment ward and they offered it me and I must say it was great, much better than taking a couple of paracetamol. It really made me feel much better :)

Yeh I think it might become common place in the future, but it's not yet offered by all hospitals, in warrington the midwives all agree it's fantastic, just hope it's as good in labor as after an op, there has been lots of studies done over the past 2 yrs into it's effectiveness during labor, but can't seem to find any results :(
As you have to have a IV hooked up it won't suit everyone, but as I said I need one for group B strep anyway, so it will be first thing I ask for, will let you all know how I get on.

i work in a hospital and they dont like giving it unless nessary as its so expenive. Maybe thats why its not avalible to everyone x
