Really panicking now that I might just have a belighted ovum and not actually be pregnant, I would be roughly 5+5 today and last Friday I had a scan (by vagina) as I had some intense af style cramping they could see a sac that measured 3.5mm and my bloods came back at 1862, today a week later my bloods are over 16,000 and another scan just showed the sac now measuring 10.5mm but they couldn't see a yolk sac or anything and they want me back in next week for a repeat scan, the woman who gave the scan said with my bloods been that level they should be able to see more by now the nurse I saw afterwards told me not to worry (easier said than done) she said it could just be early or my body's just been akward in hiding it? She said the bloods are doubling nicely and that the sac has grown a good amount but I've read that can happen with belighted ovums I seriously don't think I'm pregnant now and my body is just playing a cruel trick on me - sorry for the rant xx

Sorry you're going through this.

Did they say what size the sac was?

Duh.. sorry just read your post!

Having lots of scans in early pregnancy is notorious for causing worry to us ladies. I had many scans early in this pregnancy, firstly to rule out ectopic pregnancy and then to confirm viability. At one scan I was told the baby was a whole week behind my dates which sent me into a frenzy. (It was only measuring 6 weeks and should have been 7) I was worried it wasn't working out and growing properly. I think when the pregnancy is that small they really struggle to measure it properly.

It could be tht you didn't have a skilled sonographer and they couldn't see it well, or it could be a blighted ovum. Have you had any bleeding?

No bleeding, touch wood, she kept saying my bowel kept going in the way she was really wriggling the stick up me I didn't like her very much xx

Well maybe she was just unable to see it properly. I understand your worry. Try to put it to the back of your mind until your next scan. It's not uncommon for things to have caught up if it was a bit behind or you could have another sonographer who is more skilled.

Your levels are rising which is a good sign. Hang on to that bit of news for now.

My first mc was a blighted ovum, I'd never even heard of it before then. I agree with TORino, she probably just had trouble seeing it. As such an early stage things change so quickly and every baby grows at such a different rate. Fingers crossed for next week x

Thankyou I'm just holding on to the fact I've had no spotting or bleeding since July, which is what made me test end of August and got my bfp, the nurse didn't seem to concerned and told me not to google but I'm guilty of it, did you have any symptoms wren with it? What made you know it was that? It's going to be a long 4 days xx

I'm going back 13 years here and I ended up having 3 mcs but I think with that one I had bad pains (probably normal first pregnancy pains) but as they were on one side they scanned to check for ectopic. I think at the first scan all seemed normal, I was very early, maybe not even 5 weeks. They did hCG bloods every 48 hours which were rising but not doubling so they scanned me again and at the stage I was they should have seen more and I think that's when they said it was a blighted ovum. I ended up having to have a d&c. Wasn't the most pleasant experience x

I had a scan at 4+5 with DD2 and they saw nothing at all. Went again at 5.5 and they only saw a sac. Went again at 7.5 and there was little baby with a heartbeat! Don't worry, it's very early :)

Thankyou ladies kinda went quiet over the weekend as I had it in my head there was no baby had my scan today and not only did we see baby we saw the fluttering heart beat was amazing :-) can't believe how much change there has been in 4 days xx
