Outrage over pregnant shop dummy in Selby

yeah i really couldn't get my head round what the big issue is about this?

some people are just daft...

It sounds to me like a clever marketing ploy. It was probably all of one tut from an old lady and the (new) business owner was on the phone to the press

Hmm, having lived in Selby myself for a while, I don't think it was a marketing ploy. It actually sounds like a very Selby reaction to me.

And I doubt that this bbc report would help generate a lot of business in a small shop in a small town in the sticks. If it was in a bigger town you might have a point.

I too would have been outraged seeing that monstrocity (sp) in the shop window!!!!!

How dare it not have stretch marks! :rotfl: Someone needs to go up there with a red felt tip asap....

What?? Oh gosh that is so pathetic!

Really? Wow!

Still the story has a happy ending for her. You can't buy publicity like this on a small town budget!

Are these people soon going to ban pregnant women walking on their precious streets?

Why is it ok to have skinny dummies? You can advertise nice undies for model bodies but not make pregnant women feel better and advertise their undies. If i saw a shop with a nursing bra in the window i'd go in to have a look. They're not overly easy to find!

I can't even believe it, some people! I mean I really do wonder at times!

:? I don't get it.... some people obviosly have too much time on their hands to be worrying about mannekins!

I have a confession...

...when Debbie was pregnant, we used to visit H&M now and again for maternity wear. In the maternity department, they have these 'pregnant' mannequins. I could not resist going up and prodding the belly of one and much to my delight, it was quite soft!

As for this 'outrage' I think it has more to do with viewing pregnant women as 'sexy' more than the shape of the mannequin.

And they wonder why there is a higher rates of anorexia... when the natural form of a pregnant woman is disgusting...and the ultra skinny model forms are considered acceptable..

I reeeeally dont get what people have a problem with!

WTF ?!?!!?! look around and there is pregnant ladies walking around!!! is that wrong as well!!! people need to get a life me thinks!! there are far more important things people should be complaining about!!! grrr some people make me so mad! I think its the most natural shape of a woman which has been around for years!! if it wasnt for baby bumps the people complaining wouldn't be here

Well, but how did the women get pregnant in the first place? Parthenogenesis doesn't really work in humans.
