We were happy with our names for girls, until I looked them up and yes..They are BOTH in the top 100 :( Lucy on number 18 and Sky(e) on number 81! Is it still a good idea to give our little girl such an unoriginal name? We can't really call it Sky because we'll have a little Star Wars pun going on with our last name..

We have Rin for a boy, this is a Japanese unisex name but more often used for a boy, we both like it but the family hates it so much..They also dislike Lucy and Sky by the way :( 37 weeks pregnant and then we found this out..

New girl names or not?!

If you like the names then stick with them hun!

Lucy and Skye aren't all that popular!

James is something like number 8 and I don't know another baby James?? (It is a very popular middle name though and every other baby boy has James as a middle name!)

xxxxxxxxx

I'd say if you like it go for it

I was surprised that Aaron was on the top 100 as I don't know any others in RL

It doesn't Really matter in the grand scheme of things x

Please excuse any typos from my fat fingers!
Tapatalk madness!

As the others have said if you love the names then go with them. My ex MIL hated the name we named DS and I couldn't care less! I love it. The only thing that irks me slightly is that everyone and his brother seem to be calling their sons his name now! Grrrr. lol.

I agree with the others, if you love them then stick with them! When we named our DS I thought I was picking quite an unusual name and had never come across another LO with the name but now I seem to hear it everywhere and I think it's in the top 20. So what is unusual now may not be in the near future and vice versa. A lot of the names I like this time round rank quite high in the top 100 but to be honest now I just think sod it and I'm just going to go with the one we like best! Xxx

If you love them who cares about other pops opinions or how popular they are. Just go for it xx

^^ WSS - if you love them who cares what anyone else thinks xx it's your lo xxx

Lucy and Sky are beautiful names, who cares if they're in the top 100! Not so keen on Rin but its your choice. And you can't please everyone esp your family so just please yourself and your partner.

My mum has wrinkled her nose at every name I suggest even through they are v traditional! I did think she would approve but no. I've stopped telling her now, she won't be happy if its not her suggestion! X

I would keep your names i called LO Alice and now thats in the top 100 but it wasnt last year, and next year sky and Lucy may be off the list. Or if you pick another next year it could be on the list, they change so much. I havent met another baby Alice at all the baby and toddler groups so i wouldnt worry about the list its more whats popular where you live, around here names like milly and Amelia are really common but elseware there unusual xx

My mum hated my sons name (Devon) and felt she had to right to tell me that! we named him that anyway, its our baby and choice

She wanted a girl called Hermionie (from harry potter) or didn't understand why we couldn't use Bridget or Indianna (were Jone's!)

So listen to your heart, then choose X

My boys are usually number 1 & 2 on the list and have been for years. I've been in child are for 15 years and have never cared for another Jack or Harry. We chose them because we loved them and they went nicely together and aren't bothered about the popularity of them. If you love a name go for it because you may never meet anyone with the same name.

I agree with the others, if you love the names keep them. The top 100 change all the time and names go in and out of popularity. We had Skylar on our list for a girl and my mum turned her nose up but tough it's our choice xxx
