Neil and I went to Essex and Herts last night to listen to their guest speaker at their open evening and have a tour of the clinic.

I have to say from the minute I walked in I felt at ease. They were all so nice. The guest speaker was Kate Brian and she spoke to us about her IVF journey. She has also written 2 books about IVF. It was good for so many reasons but the main thing was that Neil got to sit there and listen to what she had to say. Obviously I have you guys and I speak openly about our situation not juts to you but to our friends and family but Neil does not talk to anyone. As she was talking about her thoughts and feelings he kept saying, 'that's us' or 'we do that', so I was pleased to see he could relate for the first time ever.

At the end we got to take a tour of the clinic with the Head Embryologist who was very helpful, we saw all of the rooms where the egg are collected and where they are stored (from outside of course) I had a slight chuckle to myself when he referred to the room where the men do their samples as 'The Mastatourium' :) (you have to laugh) and I liked the idea that the samples are electronically tagged. Most importantly I felt that everyone was really nice and that they are there to do their best to make it happen for you. I think this is definately the clinic for us. It is only 21 minutes to Cheshunt from Liverpool Street so easy for me to get too and 40 minute drive for Neil which is not the worse. The only downside is that if our first attempt fails we have to wait 6 months to try again, (as it is NHS) but hopefully that will not apply if we manage to freeze some embryos. FX. I got the impression that it will be 2 weeks for the intial consultation and then we can start on my next cycle.

The bonus this week for me is that I found out my law firm have recently changed their polices and I am now entitled to take 10 paid days leave for fertility treatment per annum. So I do not have to take any holiday for it. They have also upped their maternity package from 3, to 6 months full pay which is excellent. :)

Love Gizzy xxx

That's great Gizzy! It is so very important to feel like you belong in the clinic that you will be having treatment in.

Not only will everything have a rosey glow which reduces the stress, but if you are unhappy you will feel content to complain without feeling that you are alienating yourself :)

Hey Giz, all great news. That is amazing your work give you 10 days paid for fertility treatment! I have never heard of an employer doing that. And your maternity package is fab too. I really need a new job, I get crappy benefits working for a charity *sigh* Suppose I should just be grateful to have a job these days. The clinic sounds great hun, FX Baby Gizzy will be on the way sooooooon!! xxx

Wow sounds good gizzy, always puts your mind at rest if they make you feel comfertable, I do believe in gut instinct :)

I went to see my fertility doctor today, he is arranging for us to go to the open IVF evening at Oxford in the next few weeks, can't wait to get started xx
