Hi Guys im coming up to 11 weeks. Ive been taking pregnacare tablets but the past few days I litterally cant stomach them. As soon as I put the tablet in my mouth and try to swallow I throw it up again! :wall2: (just typing this is making me feel queeeezy!

Any ideas how I can top up my folic acid for this last week, ive not taken my pregnacare every day Ive missed days here and there but Ive still got another week and a bit of taking folic acid and need some alternatives!!

Thanks in advance!

Oh Hun I was the same so I just took folic acid tallblets I think Tescos did them there small and dont smell bad and I swallowed them no problems or got given sample of ovatine that has folic acid in as does breakfast cereals x x

Hey, I drink a breakfast juice which contains folate and try to eat avocado a fair few times a week. I spread it on crackers with a bit of hummus - yummy!
Spinach, broccoli, asparagus, peanuts and bran flakes all contain around 100 micrograms. Things like green peas, cabbage, turnip, past and rice contain around 50 micrograms. Nevertheless, it all depends on how much you have and how you cook it. Raw is best and that's why I've opted for the avocado!
In saying that, my naughty body has been craving chips, wedges or anything carb based really.

You could always top up with a smaller folic acid tablet if you're worried. Pregnacare is also making me feel queasy, but that's because I was taking it just before bed. The trick is to take it just after a substantial meal.

Good luck! Let us know what you decide!

I kept throwing mine up in tri 1 so started taking them at night! That way their proper in my system by the time ms came in the morning!

I've got marmite for brekkie as that contains folic acid bit I literally can't stomach any tablets! Least its only the last week or so but I feel awful not taking them. Just have to eat lots of marmite toast :)

I have some tiny folic acid tablets that i got from Lloyds pharmacy, they seem to do the trick. I've heard beans have folic acid in them? Im not sure if thats true but if it is just have beans on toast for lunch every day. yummy

I was exactly the same, as soon as I took them I felt the nausea kick in, u can get them prescribed, or from boots and Tesco x
