OPK to detect pregnancy ??

Hiya All,
I am 11 DPO and i havent got any HPT's ( i refuse to buy them till i am officially late for af !!!) so this morning i felt the urge to POAS ! so i did a OPK, it wasnt posotive but the test line was there and quite dark ( id say just a few shades lighter than control line !) Do you think is just a fluke or should i rush out to buy a FRER tonight ? Has this happened to anyone else ? xx

dont get your hopes up but i have seen it happen to others, inc myself...but i would def get a hpt just to be sure because the line can get darker too with a wee surge just before af arrives..

Thanks for the reply Samsgirl, ive been trying all day not to get my hopes up coz i have also got cramps ! I think i am just wishing it to mean something !!!! Im due on tomorrow or thursday so i might just wait and see what happens ! xxx

My opks and preg test lines have only just got strong postives and im 16dpo 4-5 weeks so dont rely on them BUT i have herd it happenin to women, good luck hope u get ur bfp!! Do a test i got a faint pos at 10-11dpo xxx

Hi hun, this happened to me before, used an opk and was convinced I was pregnant, turns out AF appeared a few days later, not sure if it is the pcos that made mine positive before AF but turns out I wasn't preggers. I don't rely on them after that xx

I'm 11dpo and have a bfp on pregnancy test and not even a hint of a line on an OPK. But it works for some women, good luck xx

Hi Sara, I got a very dark positive opk at 12dpo (alongside positive hpts) so it can detect the hormone but doesn't always work for everyone. Wishing you lots and lots of luck and baby dust xxx

I had this happen to me back in October. I got blazing +ves on OPKs from around 7dpo and then got a faint line on an IC at 9dpo and a Pregnant 1-2 on a CB Digi at 10dpo.

Unfortunately I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks.

I tested positive on HPTs and OPKs up until about 2 weeks after my mc.

Then last month we had started ttc'ing again and I thought I'd test with OPKs again and again I got lines and got so excited. And then AF showed up bang on time!

I would never touch an OPK after OV again, what happened to me the first time was just coincidence and proves I always have some LH in my system throughout my cycle.

My suggestion is don't do it to yourself, step away from the OPKs hun. It's not worth the heartache

Thanks for all the replys, looks like I am just going to have to wait and see if AF shows up, I can't handle seeing a negative HPT it breaks my heart every month ! The way my cramps are feeling, I deff think AF is on her ugly way ! xx

Thanks for the advise MrsMushroom, so sorry for your loss, i too had a miscarriage last year in jan at 8 weeks, I'm just so desperate for my bfp again and for it to be a sticky ! I'm sure you are the same, I will leave the opks alone until, it's time to test for ovulation again ! Good luck to you with your ttc journey ! Xxx

I always have quite a decent line on opks, all through my cycle???? Mad x

I had a friend of mine pee on an opk last week to test the theory if opks work has hpts and it totally does you just have to remember that a faint line never counts on an opk. It has to be the same darkness or darker than the control line. If you got a strong reading I would recommend getting a hpt!

I've seen similar posts on this before and all I will say is that it works for me, but not for everyone. I use the smiley faces and when I was pregnant, I got a positive smiley face at 10DPO (or eleven, can't remember but it was early) then I got a positive CB digi.
