Hi ladies.

Just having a look on FertilityPlan at their OPKs just in case I need to get some more for next cycle, it says you can choose their sensitivity so I have a choice of 20, 30 or 40 miu. The ones I used for this cycle were 20 miu and I had lines on every single OPK although varying in their intensity, it was still very confusing. Hopefully I won't need to get the OPKs but I'm going to keep an open mind cos I could get caught by AF any day now unless my BFP shows up. :wall:

Any advice would be fab. :)

Hmm...I didnt know you could choose, so cant really give you any advice. Didnt want to read and run! FX for that you wont be needing them;)

Thanks hun. :) Hopefully I won't but I like to be prepared. ;) x x

miss j, u could do what some of the others have done before and buy the cheapies as well as a clearblue digi. on the days you think u are ov (i.e. the cheapies go dark) u could start to use the digi, that way you will def get a positive at some point.

i know nothing about miu, sorry hunxxx

i think the ones i used were 30....sorry im not much help x

I would go for the 30 or 40 miu hun

I dont know much about miu though.

I used the 20miu cheapies and the CB digis last month and just used the cheapies as a guide to when to try a digi, could have got away with only using 1 or 2 digi that way and you get 7 in a pack so not too expensive.

I found this about OPK sensitivity:

"OPKs measure LH, which is a hormone that is always present in the female body in some quantity. This hormone surges 12-48 hours before ovulation. In women of normal fertility, a "surge" (indicating ovulation is near) means at least 20 mIU/mL of LH is present. The vast majority of women experience a surge of 40 or more mIU/mL. Since a surge builds very quickly, a woman may go from an insignificant amount of LH to 40 mIU literally within an hour or so.

Therefore, an OPK that measures 20-40 mIU is adequate, and a more sensitive OPK (20 mIU) does not offer any real benefit over a less sensitive one (40 mIU.) It's possible that a woman may experience a "slower" surge, and "linger" at 20 before shooting up to 40 the next day. (This may differ from cycle to cycle for the same woman. It has no physiological significance.)"

Hope it helps a lil MissJ

Thanks for the help, think I will go for the 30miu if it comes to it. :) x x

Mine are 30miu and are unmistakable to read - no lines leading up to surge and then really dark lines on the day or surge and then back to no lines again the next day.

Thanks hun, will defo go for the 30miu then. :) Hopefully I won't need them!
