did anyone see the episode on Monday night? it's the first one I've ever watched and i literally started crying after 10 seconds and didn't stop the entire programme. It scared the b'jesus out of me! It's one thing knowing it's painful, but I swear that woman sounded like she was dying!

alot of it was put on she did it when she couldnt feel anything, yes labour is painful but it is bearable and there is drugs for people who feel they cant do it without and your no less of a person if you opt for as many drugs as possible you still have to do the hard work

lol i watched it i thought that woman screaming every 2 seconds was abit over the top, but she sed it helped her so each to there own aye xx

There's quite a long thread about this in tri 3! x

lol the girl made me laugh when she said to her mum you dont know what its like lol

omg - that was just completely over the top... i'm surprised they weren't more stern in telling her to calm down!!! I do love that programme but honestly.. they must find the most EXTREEEEME people they can... just think a lady who just copes normally like most of us do is not such exciting viewing eh?!!!!

I said to my husband that it must have been edited cos she was screaming the whole time and that just doesn't happen until maybe the last few minutes... you don't have continuous pain... you DO get time to rest inbetween where most people completely return to their "normal" self chatting and laughing and in virtually no pain at all inbetween.

Don't let it scare you hun.. what about the other girl bless her who had been in there for 2 days... was petrified and she still didn't really make a fuss at all!

Like has been said above there is pain relief available if you want it and i am defo going to have an epidural again next time. Last time I got to 5cm on gas and air (following induction with pessaries and having my waters broken) and up to 5 cm the contractions were painful but the gas and air was great and you just sort of get through each one. I would say it is like that feeling when you get cramp (like in your calf muscle or something) and it does hurt but you know that in a few seconds it will be gone again.

I opted for an epidural because they then had to put me on the drip which they said really intensifies the contractions and that it could be several hours before i was ready to push so i just though "yep epidural please!" no point in suffering if it's going to take a while and things are slow going!

Really don't worry about it too much.. when it's your turn it will be completely different to what you watch on the tele etc. You will find that you DO handle it well and yes some people are vocal but I think that lady was a very very out of the ordinary case... even the midwives were a bit surprised weren't they and imagine how many people they see... it's just great for viewing figures! Don't let it worry you honest x x x x

When the baby was placed on her chest she was still screaming!! I think it was put on, i posted on my facebook how scared it was making me and all the ladies that have had babies said it was not that bad and she was putting it on. She did say at the start of the show she wasnt good with pain but that was over the top x

see i have more fear of having to have an epidural that the pain(ive never had an epi) i dont mind needles but i dont think id like not having feeling i dont even like having my legs pinned down i totally freak out

Its pathetic but the biggest thing im scared of is incase i do a poo while pushing. hahahaha i know i know very immature. But its common and it freaks me out! x

i dont know if i pooed on any of mine the midwife is that quick at getting rid of it you will never know i dont think i did though i didnt smell anything pmsl

Hahaha my oh has said if he notices he will remove it from his memory and it never happened. Suppose your probably too pre occupied to notice if you do it x

haha, yes I said to my hubby about a water birth and that you can buy these strainers for the husband where they can fish the poo out! he wasn't impressed.

midnight, I'm with you - an epidural almost scares me more. But, it's easy to say that now I'm not in pain. not being able to walk, and having a headache for 3 weeks afterwards seems not worth it! I've had 2 miscarriages and if the pain of that is similar to labour, then i have a feeling of what it will be like - terrible, awful, horrible period pains! xx

Your body usually has a good 'clear out' beforehand, but either way - if you push properly, you should push like you're doing the hugest poo of your life - and don't give a crap (ha) if you do, you probably will. I know I did a little, because I asked. But someone I knew told me to push this way, and I did, and it was so quick and easy.

i dont know the pain od a mc so i dont know hun :(

some people suffer more from having an epi afterwards ive heard with their backs
same as a c section id never want 1 because the recovery afterwards must be worst than labour as its major surgery

Oh really, I did wonder if you pushed liked that. All dignity is out the window really when your legs are open wide for the world to see so a poo prob won't matter haha. Hopefully my body will clear out before labour then and not during. Its the silly things I worry about! X

i dont think in the throws of labour you will care if you did lol

You don't.

Tell you what though - when they told me Kaya's head was crowning and did I want to feel (I didn't) - my response was, 'does it have haaiiiiiir?'

Strikes me as weird. I AM weird, but that's not the point. LOL.

ha - the poo conversation above making me giggle. . . i think i was so nervous the first time i did about 3 poos before i even got to be induced - lol!

and then when it finally got to the pushing part the midwife was this japanese lady and all she kept saying was "push a poooo... push like a poooooo... that's it push a poo" really made me and OH giggle! we still remember it not (although no poo came out just baby!)

i was scared of an epidural too and had put i did NOT want one on my birth plan but changed my mind when i was induced etc

the only thing you feel is the initial local anaesthetic which is only the same pain as a jab or having blood but in your back - then it's numb anyway so it doesn't really hurt from then onwards... the midwife said to me alot of women say it's like a bee sting but i didn't thinkit was as painful as that!
