October Mummies!

We're finding out. I'm happy for a surprise but hubby isn't, so we'll be getting a gender scan at 16 weeks like we did with our first. He can't keep a secret so we either both have to know or not :P Absolutely not doing a gender reveal though, I really don't like them.

@MammaOfMany Hello and welcome :)

Thank you for the welcome @WinterWolf

I totally get what you are saying about both knowing or not knowing. I usually like to know and my husband usually likes to not know but if I find out he HAS to know (his need not mine).

I have no idea at this stage whether we will find out this time. My main concern right now is making it through the first trimester.

I think we will be finding out blue or pink. I'd be happy to wait for a surprise but my hubby wants to find out, so we will find out I think! Which will be nice as we can plan everything tailored.

My hubby's friend announced last night that he and his wife are having a baby due at the end of August. I'm so excited! I'm about 6 weeks behind her I think. It's so nice to know I'll have a baby buddy!

Hello everyone! May I please join? I do apologise, normally I go through and read every single comment before posting but I'm afraid 20 pages worth is just too much for me right now and I'm impatient to be part of it all, please forgive me.

My due date according to the dating scan is the 15th October.

I'm very happy to be here and I look forward to getting to know you all and sharing this journey with you.

Hi I’m due Oct 19th, I’m 8 weeks tomorrow, I’m having my first appointment with the midwife on Wednesday, will be so glad to have this appointment seems like it’s been a very long wait, this is my first baby is this yours? x

Congratulations @CharleneEmma, it's a very exciting time.

No, this is not my first at all. As my name suggests I have quite a few children already, 8 to be precise *smiles*. I've had a few unsuccessful pregnancies as well though so this is pregnancy 13.

@Natalie8964 it's nice that you will have cousins around the same age. In my last pregnancy I had 2 sister in laws pregnant at the same time as me with their babies due 3 and 4 months behind me. It was especially nice to share that pregnancy and newborn stage with them.

I am so so irritable today, I'm in the worst mood ever! I'm constipated, and just getting annoyed by everyone at the moment. My skin has also broken out really badly. Definitely having one of those days!

I hope things calm down for you soon. <3

Thank you, if these are positive signs, then I'll take them all! Just one of those days where you wanna hide under the duvet!

I’m getting a lot of those lately! Feel like absolute crap most of the time :( again trying to be positive but it’s tough. Hope tomorrow’s better for you x

Oh my goodness you’re a super mum @MammaOfMany I’m a nervous wreck thinking about having two! What’s your top tips? The school I work at has lots of big families and I have no idea how they do it! My works cut out with a 1.5 year old!

Has anyone had any spotting? I have a very tiny amount of brown (old blood) since yesterday. I’m 6 weeks 3 days. Have any of you had this?

I had this, around the 6 week mark. Its normal, try not to worry (even though I did lol) I mentioned it to my midwife and she wasnt concerned at all. I think it could be implantation blood making it's way out. Or possibly even irritated cervix. With such a small amount, I'd say definitely nothing to be concerned about x

Thanks! That makes me feel better. How long did you have it for?

On and off for a week or so! And then one day I also had a big blob of cm, with a streak of red blood in it. It never came to anything. As long as theres no bright red bleeding, with bad cramping, it's normal! Lots going on in there when you think about it xx

Oh ok! So that makes me feel better. I’ve miscarried twice prior to this pregnancy but it starting with red blood spotting. I have my first scan in two days so I’m so excited/nervous to see how it goes!

I'm sure everything will be perfect! I'm similar but different - had a missed miscarriage so we didnt find out until the scan. That pregnancy I didnt have any spotting at all and hardly any cramps. This time round I've had both so I'm sticking that it's a positive thing! Xx

I've had spotting this pregnancy too, 2 days of pink and half a day of brown. It is the reason I got my ultrasound as early as I did but they didn't find any reason for it. I've had various forms of spotting in different pregnancies and I've come to the conclusion that there's no way of knowing what kind of outcome you are looking at based on spotting without cramps. Having said that, I did ask my GP this time if there was anything that could be done and she said after an ultrasound is done sometimes progesterone suppositories can be used to help prevent miscarriage.

@Xsarahh I'm not a super mum, maybe a crazy one. I'm always stumped when I'm asked for my top tips. There's just so much... I work much better when asked about certain topics. I guess though my most overarching advice is to lower your standards and don't be so harsh on yourself. We tend to try to function the same as we did without children with a clean and tidy house, keeping up socialisation and at the same time be the perfect parent. It's not really a reasonable expectation. It's not forever, it's just until the kids grow up a bit.

Talking about keeping things tidy my biggest advice there is to limit how many toys are available at any one time. You can rotate what is available to keep them interesting.

The other thing I would say is to incorporate your children into whatever you are doing as much as possible, cooking and cleaning with your children around etc as opposed to trying to get it done when they are sleeping. Especially when you are stepping into 2 or more children you are going to have less time when kids are sleeping or happy. With a young child they can help you complete tasks or just talk to you or play nearby. If you are hanging out washing you can get them to pass you pegs and while doing so you can count them with them or teach them the colours. With newborns you can either set up a swing or rocker close by to where you are working or put them in a swing or carrier. Multi tasking is the key.

I am afraid I'm talking too much so I'm going to shut up now.

@MammaOfMany Good advice! I've only got the one bub and totally agree with all of your recommendations :) I don't know how you've survived been pregnant so many times lol, I'm definitely not having any more after this!!
