*** October 2015 Mummies ***

So... that's me back from my first midwife appointment. I spent nearly an hour filling out forms and answering health related questions. Also got loads of stuff to read.

My next appointment is scheduled for 9th March.

I was advised to come in for a flu shot but I'm not sure if I will... the flu season ends in March and we are nearly half way through February. What do you think??

I've never bothered with flu shots - and won't now either. Have had the flu just once in my life, and am rarely ill, so I trust my own immune system to fend off the flu this year too!

I've given up caffeine, but that's only because of my dodgy mc history. I hate giving up caffeine, I miss it more than booze!!!

I've just finished a monster 13hr day at work and feeling wiped out, didn't get a single break either. Started feeling really wobbly and dizzy by 5pm, which wasn't helpful. Got home and had a little teary meltdown with hubby. Not sure how I will keep doing this, but then worried I won't even get past next week's scan... :wall2:Sorry to be gloomy, just having a little wobble tonight.

Sorry to the ladies missing your OHs, at least I have hubby close by, he even works in the same town :-)

Hello ladies ... could I join in ... got my BFP tonight and due on the 18th xx

Sorry you have had such a crappy day, but you will find some will be good & some will be terrible & I've always found that with the hormones in full sswing I have mad ampped up PMS symptoms especially in tri 1 until you get used to increased hormone levels. Is there any way you can work slightly shorter days? 13 hrs is such a long day no wonder your emotional & tired, try to keep positive about your scan hun, I have my fingers crossed for you. X

So how is everyone feeling today. I'm feeling quite good today no nausea but am unfortunately quite eh windy of an evening (not burps). Little nervous as I have to travel to Banff in Canada tomorrow for work conference for a week. Will be on my own too! Going to buy some flight socks later today for the journey. Hope everyone has lovely weekend x

Ooo we're going to Canada for holiday in April and first stop is Banff national park! Let me know what it's like! Yes make sure you have stocking and drink plenty of water. X

No problem, will report back on Banff, it's supposed to be lovely, I'm staying in Banff at Fairmont springs & am planning trip to lake Louise too......hopefully it won't be too cold!

I had a sneaky google of Banff - it looks gorgeous! I'd say it'll be lovely and snowy this time of year. I know what you mean though about work trips, they sound all glamorous and fancy but when you're travelling a lot with work it gets tired very quickly. I used to go away a few times a year with work and now I avoid it at all costs if I can.

How was everyone's weekend? Mine was veeerrry quiet. I'm still more or less symptomless :( my morning coffee tastes disgusting for some reason...maybe my taste buds are effected??
Speaking of coffee, anyone giving it up? I only have one cup a day so I think I'm fairly safe to not give it up.

Hi Banff is very pretty, though not much snow at the moment, its only about -2/-3 which the locals consider v warm for this time of year!! So far I've only seen the conference centre & the hotel.
The trip over was a bit of a nightmare, mainly beacuse I got up at 5am, then had to run straight to the loo, had dodgy tummy & diarrhoea (sorry if TMI). Was like that for several hours, until after I got through security (thank god the line was v short), then it switched to horrendous nausea & dry retching (think MS has finally hit me properly)! Flighs were ok & made my connection which is always a bonus , but did not reach my hotel till 1am UK time, so was totally miserable & exhausted by time I got to hotel, when I had to go register for conference, etc...
Was thinking of going skiing, but seen as I feel so under the weather I think I might take a tour instead.

Petchy, can believe you held a party for 15 boys, hats off to you. I would also be worried if my OH was going away for 3 weeks so early in Tri 1 (sure I worried about travelling to Banff alone in Tri 1). I'm sure you will be fine but it is so tiring when you have other lo to look after on your own esp in Tri 1. My OH is looking after our 13 month old girl & he was exhausted after just one day with her (that was with his parents coming over to help lol).

Desperately missing them, esp as I'm on my own at this conference & its not like I'm hanging out at the bar (as I'm not drinking at the moment), or at lite bites sessions (as food served always seems to be stuff your supposed to avoid in pregnancy), usually I would strike up few conversations at conference, but I'm so busy trying not to vomit that I cant be bothered! Sorry I'm finished moaning now....
Time to head back to conference now.............

At home with a poorly 9-year old today... Will attempt to get some work done from home, but tbh - getting a chilled out day won't be a bad thing either ;) Feel a little nauseous.

Poas again, and the hcg levels are definitely going up!

Happy Tuesday everyone

Welcome bumblicious!

KHTW: I'm not going to bother with the flu jab either. I was humming and hawing about it but as we're just out of the winter now I'm not going to bother. Good to hear the appointment went well, will you get a scan at your next appointment?

Sharmon: what a trek! pregnant or not I'd be in bits after that. The morning sickness really seems to be hitting you now. Other than network etc. do you have to do much at the conference? If you're presenting or anything like that I hope you get it out of the way sooner rather than later :)

petchy: there's no denying your HCG levels are increasing! I have four lined up at home that look something similar. It's so reassuring because for my MC I was testing regularly as well and the lines were getting lighter, rather than darker and I knew something was wrong.

Heading to my first appointment with my obstetrician today, I'm pretty excited about it, eek! Hubbie is slightly nervous which is cute.

Hah, so I've learnt something new today: in Norway, a pregnancy isn't considered to be the 40 weeks I was used to from the UK - but either 40+2 or 40+3 depending on the dating method that specific hospital is using. So, if I was still in the UK my due date based on LMP would be the 13th, whereas in Norway it's the 15th or 16th. How very peculiar! Surely we are all the same and a uterus doesn't change as soon as you cross borders

My due date will no doubt be adjusted at my scan around 18 weeks anyway, so for now I'll leave it as the 13th.

Good luck at the obstetrician today, littletwix!

thanks petchy - I'll let you all know how I get on.

The dating/weeks thing is still a bit of a mystery to me, I'm sure I'll be well versed on it soon enough.

You see, my problem is that I have rheumatoid arthritis and take sulfasalaizine which lowers my immune system. Now with being pregnant and taking it my immune system may be even weaker. But on the other hand, the flu season is nearly over... Erghh! I don't know what to do!

They say sickeness is a really good sign, thats what I keep telling myself (as I run to the wash rooms to wretch mid conference lol), I'm really starting to suffer with smells too, one moment I'm dying for a coffee, next min the smell of it is turning my stomach. I've always found that when I'm tired my ms is worse (prob why I felt so bad when travelling). Dont feel too bad so far, little nauseous, will see how day progresses.........I found last time ms peaked around 10/12weeks, though it didn't subside till around week 18, though I had quite bad ms last time I had several days where I couldent manage to hold down anything all day (thankfully that was only about 8/9 days), rest of the time, I might only have it part of day, vomited most days but was still able to function. Just keep reminding yourself it will all be worth it & it will be over soon.
Welcome to all new October mummies, I have my booking in appointment on Monday, looking forward to that, will make it seem a little more real.
Petchy thats mad about your due date, never heard that before lol.

It must be hard being on conference Sharmon. At least I have my own office with a sink in, so somewhere to rush to! I hate hate hate feeling sick but then feel panicky when its not there. Was the same last time - idiot!!

KTHW: Are you still taking the sulfasalazine? Do they give you any extra monitoring etc. Normally I'd say with a weaker immune system you should take any jabs they offer you (I am as I am taking steroids). However, this seasons flu jab is pretty crap, they've manufactured something that is only protecting about 3% of people... it must be close to impossible to keep up with the virus mutations though.

The argument that winter is nearly over isn't a good one ladies, remember that swine flu came in the summer...

Hi, yes I am still taking but reducing the does every couple of weeks until it goes down to 0. It is safe to take during pregnancy but I don't feel comfortable taking any chemicals while pregnant.

Yes, I am seriously considering taking the jab now and probably will... I intend to talk to OH tonight and see what he thinks. Even tho I suspect he'll say his usual 'do whatever you feel is the right thing'! Men!!! :wall2:
