NT scan results

Hi, at the 12w (or more) scan how quickly do they let you know about the nt result? Will they tell me then if it's within a normal range or will it be later in the post? Thanks xx

I think it depends on your hospital. They will tell you there and then what the NF measurement is but to get full picture they need to combine this with your blood test, mine was sent to me in the post about a week later. Good luck

I got my full results within the hour.

I was given initial results based on what that could see on scan - NF was in the healthy range, nasal bone was present and heart seemed normal.

They had taken my blood before the scan and I got the complete results (inclusive of blood test results as well) about 55 minutes after they took my blood!

Thanks for the replies. What will they tell you about the measurement? Is it supposed to be under a certain number of mm? Sorry for all the q's we have a history of downs in my family and I'm in a mild panic after theyve changed scan date.

At my hospital they will gave me the measurement and showed me on a graph where bub falls (so with me the NF was in the healthy range)

I think the risk of Downs only increases if you have a sibling with DS or already have a DS child.

My first cousin has DS and they said this put me at no higher risk!

If there is an issue like we had with the measurement they tell you straight away and get a specialist midwife in to talk to you about risks and further testing. The measurement should be bellow 3.5mm, Tyler's was 4.5mm so we opted for a CVS. Came back negative and we have a bouncing baby boy! Thanks for all the info it's helps to see what might happen. My mums brother is the one who has downs so that's why I'm keen to be tested and I'm also not telling family until I know the results but feel like I've been keeping the secret for too long now lol!

Well just went to read my cancellation letter again and decided to ring to see if there was any way to change my new appointment date (which would mean I'd be well into 13w) and they kindly moved it forward for me to next Tuesday when I'll be approx 12w 3d so feeling a bit better about getting the ball rolling now. Though a bit miffed they moved it so far back when she said they had 3 spare appointments on the Tuesday but oh well, here's to 9am Tuesday eek!!
