Now is the time...

Love it!! Saw this on the news today and thought I am so missing out by being a non-smoking, light drinking (when not pg obv) person with an avergae BMI :) x xx

I have to admit this seriously seriously pissed me off this morning when I saw it on the news! What a waste of money! The money wasted on this incentive could be put into other areas of the nhs! I'm still absolutely raving angry about it! Surely the incentive for these people is longevity?! And who's to say they won't stop for a bit, get the money and then start again to get money again?

Grrrr grrrr grrrr.

That's all I dare say on the matter!

exactly, its bloomin ridiculous! I dont know anyone who's obese who doesnt WANT to lose weight. the idea that they need a bit of cash and theyll just drop the pounds is just patronising. most people already have the incentive of being healthier and feeling good as well as looking good, this is far stronger motivatuion than money (as im assuming its not going to be a significant amount of cash) to offer cash just shows how poorly these people understand the complex psychological and social issues around obesity.

A better idea would be to offer cheaper gym membership or fruit and veg vouchers instead surely?

yup, or free passes to weightwachers/slimming world type groups

I also heard on the radio how thier gonna start rewarding children who eat fruit and veg!! Well laceys always ate healthy so rewarding the ones that don't is unfair on the children who do!! The parents should be trying to encourage healthy eatting anyway!!

OH came home and I had the biggest rant at him about it! DD eats all fruit and veg, where's her reward?! Neither me nor OH smoke or are obese, where's our rewards?! Grrrrrrrrrr! I'm really really really angry about this!

I know exactly!! OH is obese but that's due to muscle but I don't see how it's fair rewarding people for being obesed!! I've never rewarded Lacey for eatting fruit or veg, it's something children should already do! Very unfair!

Very pissed at this too! We're such a middle of the road couple, so we get totally screwed, so unfair!

I know, actually by rewarding them you are sending the message that eating fruit is some kind of chore. My mum used to let us choose a fruit when we went shopping when we were kids. we tried all sorts. the fruit itself was the treat as long as we were good while shopping. i still enjoy fruit. i dont understand what the problem is with it, its really sweet and juicy!!

Gym memberships are way overpriced!! There's no way I could afford it :( love my fruit though lol
