Had my 20 week scan today, and they told me i have bilateral notching. has anyone else been told this?? Oh, and its a boy
Everyone I know who's had babies recently have had boys..I'm having a girl! I'd thought I'd follow suit! Congrats
It means you are at greater risk of preeclampsia or baby being small for his size when born I like to know all the details of things (my baby has RPD so I've done loads of research to see what will and could happen). If you are like me, this link may be useful to you. www.library.nhs.uk/SpecialistLibraries/ ... sID=112055 If you are a normal person who doesn't read lots of medical research abstacts then give it a miss probably. I read through quite a few of them and P42, section 9 seemed the clearest. 18% of the woman in this study had notching so it must be quite common (if I've understood it properly). 6% had preeclampsia and 2% had low birth weights which means the vast majority were fine. I hope this is helpful
Never heard of bilateral notching but I would have thought they would have told you if it had any serious implications. Congrats on being on team blue! Bet your chuffed already having 2 girls!
Thanks Kalia, ill have a look at that link. There is very little about it when you google it They did say i was at a higher risk for pre-eclampsia and of having quite a small baby. Ill be getting more scans, one in 6 weeks, then every 2 weeks after that if the notch is still there
