OK so I know my little man is active, driven and blooming nosey but he's seriously got me LOL today, he just doesn't sleep and I'm amazed, how can he not get tired!! In his cot through the night he'll sleep from roughly 11pm until 4am, then has a breastfeed, then back in bed with us until about 8am.

Most days he sleeps roughly 1hr 45mins, today this was in his car seat and buggy, is this right? He's not grizzly, he's eating and happy, he just will not sleep for any length of time until car/buggy/cot-time

He also sometimes has to cry to sleep, it's like he needs to protest or something, when he's tired at the end of the night, and we begin the bedtime routine, he knows, and he sometimes gets upset and really sobs, even if we're holding and rocking him, then after about 5-10mins of that, (longer on some days which is very frustrating for him and us I think) he's asleep  what's that about?

His whole approach to sleeping is just odd, from what I've heard of LO's at this age anyway, Isaac doesn't do the classic naps I've heard of

Until Keeley was 5 months old
she would only fall asleep in the car, buggy.. swing or bouncer she just liked to be moving

For me as long as she was havin her naps i didn't really care where she was sleepin as if she didn't have a nap she would be soo miserable :)

At night we used to have to rock her to sleep then cuddle her for 15 minutes then put her in the cot

Tom's only just started napping in his cot. Before that, he would only sleep in his car seat or bouncy chair.
He sounds EXACTLY like Tom at night! It was like reading my diary from a few weeks back! Have you got a bedtime routine for him? Have you tried putting him down earlier? Maybe he is overtired?
Lxx

We've tried a couple of routines Lucy, but still the same result of Isaac protesting  He's done real well tonight and last night, but again he;s just had his injections this week so he's been a bit off anyway, I still feel he's not ready for any sort of routine, he's so set in his ways, he still dictates a lot, and he doesn't really dictate a desire to go down quietly  I know you've been through controlled crying, I'm not ready for that yet, don't think Isaac is either, but if he;s still this way in a few months we've discussed talking about it because it can be very upsetting somedays, as I'm sure you're aware. It's not that he don't like his cot, he wakes himself up numerous times a night turning on his cot toy 'light and music show' and then turns it off and goes back to sleep
Thanks very much for the replies
