Did you all know this?

We were told by the mw yesterday. It's in case you need a section and they have to pinch your nails to check your capillaries (I think).

I was gonna try to have a pedicure before hand and maybe a french manicure but I'll not bother wasting my dosh now

x

yup, they were removing nail varnish from my fingers while wheeling me into theatre

just as well I never got round to getting the permanent gel stuff

Yep, they need to check they are not turning blue!

Whaaaat!? I was also planning on a bit of pampering before labour! Pointless I know but it'd make me feel a bit better I think. Ah well I'll have to save my money to buy myself something nice afterwards, I think I'll deserve a treat! lol x

suppose I should have known better than to hope for glamour in labour

Guess I could still have the pedicure though ;)

you could book a beautician to come to the house when baby is 3 weeks old to get yourself a mani/pedicure. :cheer: they keep nail varnish remover on labour wards for idiots like me though. I was allowed to paint my nails on the antenatal ward

nope they stole the varnish from my toes, and I tell you what, painting your own toes nails while 39 weeks pregnant is quite an achievement!

I just mean the actual treatment with no painting though? So basically a foot massage :lol

 I can imagine...I can barely put my own shoes on, let alone paint my toe nails!!!

 i got a mani and pedi for my birthday from a friend and was planning on going a week before due date :( hmm, gonna have to rethink this  xx

 glad I started this now then pos, you'd have been gutted to waste your birthday pressie x

yeah good job you did, need to fit in a wax at some point too..dont want to leave it too late in case i go into labour early and end up being a hairy mary in the delivery suite! xx

I painted my tonails while in labour :bum: I didnt know any better and it gave me something to keep distracted while timing contractions . Also plucked my eyebrows(not easy) , had a soak in the bath and have a good shave and moisturised . Luckily I didnt need a c-section or anything so it wasnt an issue .

I think it's fine to have it on your toes so long as you dont have it on your fingers too or have gel/acrylic on your fingers - that's what we were told at our class anyway x

your a proper hardcore trooper ttoes

Pos, I'm booked in for waxing on 13 December - if I make it that far. I think they basically wanna take everything away

They took nearly all of it last week when I went - ouchies x

Its strange/annoying that different hospitals say totally different stuff isn't it? :strangle: guess everywhere has their own policies though x

yup waxing stings when pregggers ! no way was I brave enough , Ah I just knew I wasnt ready for hospital and chilled at home . Mind you she was born withing two hours of me getting in hahaha

It's not just to see if they're blue. The pulse oxometer (thing that has a red light and looks like a peg) won't work through painted or false nails.

Good job I can't reach my toe nails lol!
