I have measured myself to be approximately five weeks pregnant from my last menstrual period. I had a one sided pain yesterday so I visited OBGYN who scanned me and completed HCG. My results came back as 20,000 HCG and there was no embryo only a gestational sac, there was also free fluid and they could not rule out an ectopic pregnancy. I have been told I have numerous cysts and potentially PCOS but not to worry about that. I am going back for a recheck of bloods tomorrow and depending on HCG they may scan me again the day after. I am worried I have miscarried or have a blighted ovum. Any advice would be great. What do I want my hcg levels to do and why are they so high so early on if they can’t see the baby?

Sorry your going through this Hun. I’d of thought your levels been 20,000 that a heartbeat would of been detected, is there any chance those levels could be wrong? Xx

I’m not sure, what are the chances of that? She wrote them as 20/00 but said 20000, I’m getting rechecked tomorrow but I don’t understand it. He said. Have a third chance of it being okay. Third chance it is a miscarriage or third it’s anembryonic

I had pain at 6 weeks and the normal scan only showed a sack, they completed an internal scan which showed a yolk and after zooming in they found a heartbeat, but I was warned that I may need to go back in a weeks time if no heartbeat had been detected so please don’t worry. I too thought it was eptopic due to the pain being one side, but it turned out to be my overy causing the pain. Try to think positively, you can’t control this and stressing about it will only made you feel worse x
