Do it in the bath or with a towel under your boobs, and wetwipes handy!

My family nurse suggested i started doing it now to increase chances of developing a good milk supply when baby is born, and i did it in the bath, had a lil rub and a squeeze.. and well ended up covered in it. its sticky.. lol

This sounds like a stupid question but if you start getting things going now, can you lose the colostrum? Cos I know you only have that for the first day or so before real milk comes through so surely if you are letting stuff out now then it might turn into real milk before you want it to. Does that make sense?

Becky that's a good question, I don't know! But I massage my leaky boobies because they hurt a lot. And my right one leaks all day long but nothing from my left so I massage it to get it flowing! Lol. Otherwise I end up with heavy, sore boobs and they itch. So once I've Mille them a little, it's all good! X

perhaps only clostrium is only released when baby is out hormonel possibly??

Any leaking will be colostrum before baby is born, you won't run out just make more!! Then with the hormonal shift after baby is born your proper milk starts to come in.

not sure if yous are aware but nipple stimulation can bring on really painful contractions if it does work to induce labour!
I was thinking about trying it but would rather not cos dont want it to be more painful than it already is lol. It could be another old wives tale but i dont want to take any chances lol!

All it could do is help the body release the oxytocin hormone which can start off contractions, but your body will only do that when it's ready for labour anyway, so I doubt it makes a huge difference pain-wise, hope not anyway!

Oh my god even the thought of doing this makes me feel queasy I can't bear anything touching my nipples they seem to be ultra sensitive and sore all the time!!!

Mine are definately more sensitive now.. and get sore sometimes if I wear a bra all the time ( they get squished, they wanna constantly be hard LOL)

My boobs are still chaning size too, and I really want to get my feeding bras's! I have this urge to get the last three things I need on my list to be ready and then not worry! Bra's are one on the things and I am gonna have to wait till 38 weeks I think to be sure to get big enougth ones! ha

but my god they are sensitive and sore, i agree kat mine wana be hard n free from being in my bra all day, im just hoping when theres a little person on the other end they either calm down or de-sensitise a bit!! lol

My OH just read this thread and is now constantly trying to rub my nipples! Argh! Sensitive is not the word and wanting to be constantly hard is definately not far off my nipples witha mind of their own!

think it varies from person to person tbh I have a play around so prob brought it on early myself!

God mine leaked from 24 weeks. Proper leakage as well. Quite early! X
