Nightfeeds Chat Thread

Well I spoke to soon I thought I had cracked it with max. The past few nights he went down at 10/11 woke at 1 had a feed asleep by 2:30 and then up at 6:30 last night we woke up at 1:30 like normal back to sleep then up at 3:30 until 5:30 then up at 7.i want to cry. Plus it's my OH first day back so he got to sleep thru it. *******. Now I feel like shit for my first day alone with him :-( booooo! Xx

Oh no Amy, poor you. Does your LO nap much during the day? Make sure you get some shut eye when he does.

I had a bad night. Fed at 10:30, 4:30, then she woke up crying at 6 so i fed her again. She cried afterwards too. I wanted to go for a run before OH went to work so had to go then. I woke him to ask if he wanted me to stay & look after the baby or if i was ok to go. He said it was fine to go & just leave E in bed with him. When i came back he said how annoying it was that I'd woken him up & should have just put her in bed with him. Um no, that's so dangerous! He then burnt his mouth on tea & left the house in a mood without even saying goodbye. That's put me in a bad mood for the day now :(

Oh dear sophie. What a bad start to the day :( x

Sounds identical to my night Amy. I had a total of 5.5 hours added up and oh is back to work today so slept all night :( To top it off Phoenix just brought up what seemed like all of her 7.15am bottle.... Now I can sit and worry all day on my own! X

Still an okay night here. But J went to sleep at 9.15 instead of his usual 9.45-10. So he woke much earlier for first feed then an hour earlier than usual. Scott fed him at 5 very quickly, but he still woke at his usual 6 anyway! However we left him and he stayed in there until 8 without crying!

Tried a dummy for the first time but she spat it out after a while. So we did co sleeping and lying down feeding as usual. Seeing Hannah with a dummy actually made me cry for some reason. Like I'd failed somehow. I certainly got some sleep but all on my side in a tense position and got all hot and sweaty as usual..
Boring, long week ahead. Can't drive so stuck here on my own everyday. :'(

With my DD I cried when I first gave her a dummy. But didn't look back after I got over it. It's settled her so made us less stressed!!
Ok night sleep. Went by in a bit of a blur. Still tired x

I hated seeing J with a dummy too. To be fair, he doesnt like them and now we very rarely use it. Hes more interested in sucking his hand or an item of clothing if its in reach!

The dummy just also made me feel awful. I never wanted him to have one. I think we may get away without one. Hopefully Hannah will not take to it. I know its easier and keeps them calm, but once she gets a few older, she will soothe herself rather than relying on a dummy and im so glad J does that now xx

Don't feel bad about dummy. I swore we would never ever use the one. However when baby is screaming for hours for no reason they are a sanity saver! Mollie doesn't always take it to be honest, the best way to get them to use it is reverse psychology. You pop it in and the second they even suck a little bit try and take it away, they will suck even harder and so it continues.

lo didn't keep the dummy in for more than a minute at a time so i resorted back to boob/co-sleeping

i agree with umbongo it is uncomfortable lying in one position for ages!

Max won't keep a dummy in at all he gets to excited ts a bottle and sucks I out of his mouth lol. He does have naps but I struggle to sleep when he does. I'm a bit crap. Gonna really try today tho. Hoping tonight's better xx

Don't feel bad about a dummy, I want the girls to have them as it is a life saver at times! G loves hers c isn't so fussed but she hardly cries in any case!
We had a good night, we put them in their sleeping bags, had a bottle at 7.30, asleep by 8, up at 12 for another bottle and straight down till 4, bf then down till 7! Think they might have been cold when they kick their blankets off!
Xxx

Joshua has just gone down in his basket. Hopefully he behaves unlike last night. I dont expect to be up until atleast 2.30.. :-)

Wish I could sleep at 10! X

Hannah had a strange day, barely a nap (although we got up late) amd then 2 hours when hubby got in. Then a few feeds this evening but not as many as usual. Now feeding again but looking sleepy. I predict she won't stay in her basket ... Got to keep trying!

Kelly do you put J upstairs to bed with a monitor then? I can't usually get Hannah to sleep much before midnight so it's irrelevant to me but just wondered, as we keep her downstairs til I go to bed (10ish) then I feed in bed.

I'm back from my weekend away, Harrisons routine went completely to pot so we are trying to get it together again!

He had a bath at 7.30 then at 8 took 7oz of powdered formula (the most he's ever had!) followed by a few minutes of booby to settle him, so he went to sleep about 8.30, I've just bought him upstairs & popped him in his crib so hoping he'll sleep til at least midnight! Although he's very grunty so I'm not too confident! I've missed so much on this thread, but for all the cluster feeding mummys (I know you're sick of hearing this) but i promise it does get better!

Bex, have you thought about renting a bednest from the nct? Might be worth doing if Hannah won't settle x

Good luck getting her to stay in her basket! Yes, we put him upstairs with the monitors on once hes sleeping. He stayed with us for weeks downstairs, but we have put him to bed most nights now. We usually go up about 11 or half past and he isnt even disturbed by us x

Ohhh nooo up already!!!!!!! I was and am soo tired too! He usually goes 10-4, it's 1:30! God knows what kind of night I'm in for now, and I am so tired my eyes are stinging. ;-( hope there is some more luck elsewhere! Xx

Oh no! Thats a big difference. Im not impressed either. J seems to be going backwards. He had 3 hr 50 rather than his usual 5 and did this yesterday too. We had it down to 1 night feed. Now really its back to two as 5am is still the night for us :(
