Nightfeeds Chat Thread

Ohhh exciting news Umbongo! Gotta love the tens!

Worst night yet. Had tongue tie snipped. So she is proper screaming, constantly, as crying makes her mouth hurt more. I've been trying to feed her but she just keeps screaming as she can't seen to get her tongue down now! So she's not latched for 7hours. Now she's just shut down, its horrible. :-(

Mummy to my beautiful girl born 9/8/13

Spin when I went for Hs tongue tie appt they told me to put your little finger in their mouth first til they start sucking on it, it reminds them of the sucking reflex that they need then put them on the boob. Worth a shot?

Or you could try syringe feeding for a little bit x

Have considered that claire. Were thinking 6 weeks but may even do it earlier now as its just too much! Hope he will be ok though. If I moved him now would it best to leave him in his basket? Or straight in cot?

I was up at 11.30, 1, 3, 4.30 and 5.15. Then had to cuddle him to get an hours sleep :-(

My eyes are itching!

Do you have a monitor so that you still have comfort he is ok? One of the breathing sensor ones would be massively reassuring, and with one of those I can't see why you couldn't move them into own room whenever!? I'm not sure about basket or cot, but in my personal opinion I might use basket first if that's what he's more used to and still comfortable in, then move into cot when he gets too big for it as you would have done anyway? Plus with the basket there is less chance of false alarms going off on the sensor, as there isn't as much room for him to move off of it like there is in a cot.

Maybe try one night and see how u get on? You might find u can't settle, or it could be your best nights sleep yet ..! Xxxx

We only have the basic monitors. They pick up every movement! We put him down at night then spend an hour downstairs and every time he moves it makes a noise! I may try tonight for a few hours at least. See how he and I take to it xx

Up early for the first feed tonight, knew we would be as he was dead to the world from 6.30pm, managed to wake him for his bedtime feed at 8, but he was straight back to sleep!

Hi ladies, I always go to sleep with so much hope! It especially annoys me if it takes ages for him to fall asleep at bed time, as it makes no difference to wake up time! Didnt fall asleep till 11ish last night, still awake just after 3! Boooo.... Xxx

Its only been 2 & a half hours since he went to sleep :( so tired!

:-( mine wont settle back to sleep post night feed. 1 1/2 hours now trying to settle. X

Took H ages last time too, in the end I just put him in his crib with dummy & left him, he was grunting for a bit then spat his dummy out did a little moan & went to sleep x

2nd feed done now waiting to see if he settles, he was fed and back asleep within 25mins at 2am!

We're on holiday (caravan in Weymouth) so he's in his travel cot and its a bit chilly so instead of swaddling him in his sheet which he thrashes out of eventually he's in his grobag... His grunting and groaning at the moment!

It must have been a bad night for settling all round last night. After waking up at 3, Max didnt go back to sleep properly until about 5:30. Then woke again at 6:30... I OF COURSE have things to do today as he never sleeps well the night before a busy day (maybe he's excited haha) xxx

Didn't have a particularly good night either! Izzy went down at 8:30 until 1 then didn't go back down until 2:15 because she had the hiccups for ages and she wouldn't settle until they'd gone! Then I couldn't get back to sleep until 3ish then she was up at 5, 6 and 7! Blah not had a night like that in a while! Xx

Much better night! He was sleeping when I got home at midnight and then woke for a feed at 2-2.30 that scott gave. Then again at 5.15 :)

Well after H slept from 6pm til midnight & then was awake all night, I've managed to keep him awake until now, he's just gone down in his basket. So hopefully he will be back to normal tonight! X

That's what I'm worried about. He's been asleep on and off most of the afternoon. Hope he sleeps tonight. X

I'm dreading tonight. Had tongue tie cut Fri, so she would only sleep on us. Last night mum stayed (hubby away) and we tried to get LO to sleep from 9, she finally settled at 11.30, up for a feed at 3, settled about 5, then up at 7. She's been refusing to nap or go in her basket all day. As soon as we stop cuddling her she wakes and screams. Cant put her anywhere for a second! On my own tonight. Got a good book ready to read on my phone!

Xx

Lol! Oh dear.
