Nightfeeds Chat Thread

Well I'm doing the 30 day shred exercise DVD, and did it all last week so it was playing up a bit from that. Then on Saturday night I fell over after a few too many wines, then yesterday I tried doing the DVD again, and now I'm in agony! I think I've sprained it or something, but can only take ibuprofen & paracetamol because of bfing so it kept me up most of the night!

Seren slept 9-2, yay! I was a bit worried how tonight would go because we were home late so she was in bed much later than usual. It's worked to my advantage though because she's done her long stretch at a more convenient time for me. Fingers crossed she's not too sick after this feed and settles back for another decent stretch. Does anyone else have trouble with their LOs being sick at night? Seren is sicky all the time but its more of an issue at night because it disturbs her and she wakes up coughing and spluttering :-( xxx

Yep, Phoenix is sicky and has just puked everywhere... We've tried everything to help with the sickness... It's not reflux so no meds work... Aptamil comfort helped for a bit but now that's coming back up.... I do so much laundry and it makes it difficult to re settle her in the night as she is hungry again after being sick! How do you deal with it? I dread going out incase she is sick....

I feel like I've tried everything too! I also don't think Seren's is reflux because it doesn't seem to bother her apart from obviously making her choke a bit when she's laying down. We've tried gaviscon which helped for a bit but makes no difference anymore. She's bf so I don't have the option of changing her milk. When I asked the HV for advice she just said 'hmm bf babies aren't normally sicky'. Um well very helpful thanks! I've tried all the keeping her upright after feeds etc but it doesn't help at all. She's still sick when upright and can be sick ages after a feed.

When we go out I take about three outfit changes! And plenty of muslins. At night I tuck a muslin in over the mattress under her head to avoid having to change her whole sheet every time she's sick. I also keep a stash of spare clothes next to my bed at night so I don't have to get up if she needs changing. And again plenty of muslins! I'm convinced she'd sleep much better if it wasn't for the sickness. It's nearly always being sick that wakes her in the second part of the night xxx

Seren sounds exactly like P! I felt like I was the only one in the world.... Ha ha. Yep I keep her upright for ages after a feed but as you say it can sometimes be ages after that she is sick. Sometimes it feels like her whole bottle comes back up. I wish I'd breastfeed as feel it would have made my life easier when she wants topping up after she's sick and I feel guilty that maybe she wouldn't be so sicky if she was bf :(
I feel like I've exhausted all options now and just have to wait for her to grow out of it....
Thanks for the advice :) I shall be using some of your ideas for sure. If you ever need to vent about sicky babies don't hesitate to message me! I find it really gets me down sometimes..., x

I know what you mean Flot, I feel like the only one too! But at least we now know we're not! It gets me down sometimes too, especially at night because I know it disturbs her sleep and it can't be very nice for her bless her when she wakes up all wet and needs changing in the middle of the night.

Don't feel guilty - as Seren has proved bf babies can be sicky too! I'm not sure it makes much difference if they are naturally sicky whether they are bf or ff to be honest.

I think you're right about having to just wait until they grow out of it. I'm not expecting much of an improvement before we start weaning. I'm kind of getting used to always having a muslin and a change of clothes to hand although I still get caught out often! Like I say though its the nights I find hardest, I'm always listening out to see if she's being sick and I get worried about her choking too :-(

Might well take you up on the offer of messaging! Good to chat to someone else in the same situation! Xxx

Harrison had his third lot of jabs today & he is soo poorly! Settling in for a bad night with lots of cuddles. I'm co-sleeping tonight for the first time since he was a week old! Poor baby :( x

Oh ladies I want to cry! I'm already up for second time tonight! I am feeling sooo very sorry for myself ;-( xxx

Oh Claire, I know what you mean! Ella's just done a 2 hour stretch. Half an hour of that was feeding and then however long it then took for me to sleep. Am not exactly feeling refreshed at the end of my nights.
How's H doing, SaraLouise? Hope he's ok with lots of mummy cuddles.

Oh poor little Harrison :-( hopefully he will be feeling better in the morning.

Glad H is doing better hun, sofa day full of naps today?

Well my night was horrific, up every 1-2 hours and ended up co sleeping most of the night which I don't like doing as I can't sleep properly and always ache in the morning. Sooooo tired and there are scaffolders outside my window today working on the roof so can't see many naps taking place.
Sophie I hope your night improved?!
Very jealous of all the good sleeping babies last night.. I remember those days ;-) xxxx

Ha just realised I put log sleeping, think I meant loud! She snored but that wasn't too bad so i feel much better today. Just doing next feed now. :-)
Claire you make us all realise we can't take their sleeping for granted!

Hi ladies! Glad there were some good night's sleeps to be had.
E wasn't as bad as she has been. Woke at 11 and 5 crying but the rest of the wake ups were harmless. Don't want too hope too soon that we've turned a corner! Had the midwife round today and she sais it was normal for babies to have sleep regression at around 4-5 months and that it sorts itself out on its own...here's hoping!

I hope you're right Sophie. I'm actually dreading going to bed ;-( xxx

Good luck Claire and everyone else. Doesn't look good here. She woke up 2 hours ago and I still can't get her back to sleep :-(

Not looking great here either, he's already woken up but I think I've settled him now. Too scared to lay down in case it makes any noise so just sitting rigidly up at the moment! Come on babies you can do this!! Xxx

Hmm not sure here either, she's struggling with her expressed bottle, keeps getting burps :-(

Good luck everyone! !

Glad I found this thread I thought it was just me having hardly any sleep.
I'm waiting for baby to wake at 12/1ish then going upstairs to bed hopefully for a good few hours.
I can't even be bothered making an effort with myself lately anyone else the same? Xx

Welcome Jess! Make an effort..? Does brushing my teeth count?! Luckily no one expects an effort after just having the baby, but unfortunately after nearly 4 months that excuse is wearing thin for me!

Ok so far so good.. Went to sleep just before 11 and woke at 2, so I've at least had 4 hours! Woohoo! Best block for a couple of days! Just feeding and he's sleepy so I'm getting hopeful xxxx
