New or pre loved stuff for your baby?

Ha emma I know what husband like that are like....My ex husband was fanatical about everything being brand new and wouldnt even have stuff off my family! Mind he and his parents were so up their own arses I often wonder how I enbded up with him as a snob is something I am not! lol!xx

Ah stunned thats lovely! I would have loved to have had some stuff from when I was little! I think thats great your using blankets your granny made thats great! xx

if i ever concive io have codies moses basket and various other things that i had when she was born, i think she wud be well chuffed about giving them the new addition (fingers crossed it happens!)

as for the cot i brought that second hand theres no point buying that new as they ant in it for long are they ,codie was climbing out of it at one years old lol!!

Ah ll thats nice! Yeah your right about the cots! 5 mins and their redundant! lol xx

We've a bit of both - pram, car seat and cot are new and a few clothes we've bought. A friend gave us a spare car seat and a bouncer and we've a collection of clothes in all different sizes for when bub's is born.

My Mum gave me a crocheted blanket which she said her sister made for when I was born so we're using that for our LO in the pram :) X

We didn't have everything new - we've got some friends with two boys who are now 6 and 4, and they gave us loads of their clothes and toys when I was pregnant with Sam. I did buy some stuff myself too because I couldn't resist when I saw a few things I loved, but they've saved us a fortune, as Toby's now wearing the same clothes too and the stuff that he's grown out of is now being worn by my friend's little boy :D

I've bought quite a few things for both boys on ebay too

Ah I love the idea of hand me downs SM I thinks its really nice to be wearing stuff from friends and family it means a lot to me to have stuff from them!

I can imagine its hard to resist some things like you say but if savinf a few quid is on the agenda then why not!

xx

Ah tasha the blanket is something nice for you to be able to use too! Lovely!

Weve got davids christening shawl and thats been through the family so at least got something from his side even if not mine! lol xx

I got both...lots of bundles off e-bay and some new stuff from all over. Gotta say though, he mostly wears the new cos I don't want to have wasted my money lol x

Everything new would be lovely, but i have to come down to earth and be realistic, even though some items will be well used on a daily basis by baby, it will only be for a short time as they grow so fast. We have a good number of things hopefully coming our way second hand, through family and friends.

On the other side of things we would rather buy more expensive things like a carseat, pram, and even a high chair that combines as a new born seat, that will last throught the different stages. Rather do this than buy cheaper items but have to upgrade them as they get bigger, if that makes sense.

My mum is moving house soon so she's packing up everything. Other day, she found my baby stuff in a box! So I'm gonna be using 32 yr old blankets for me little one! 2 of them were knitted by my very much missed Granny so it will be so lovely to use the blankets.

I vetoed the old potty, bottles with ancient rubber teats and even the old terry nappies! :-s I asked her why on earth does she want to keep that stuff!? Lol! :)

My mum gave me my shawl which she wrapped me in to take me home from the hospital  Im gonna be using it to bring my LO home in too. :)

A mixture, I really love the maxi cosi mura but if I can get it 2nd hand in good shape I'll buy it :yay:

Ah seems like were all going to be getting stuff given from family and friends and why not its a great way to recycle stuff that lets face it is hardly used!

Yeah ladies Im with you on the decent car seats, etc saftey first and all that....

Great stuff xxx

Ermmm I have mostly new but a couple of pre loved stuff. doesnt bother me as long as the qualitys good and it does the job well :)

I am terrible for wanting everything in life brand new. So I want everything for the first baby to be brand new, I dont mind re-using for any more children we have. My cousin has an 8 month and I really dont want his handdowns for my baby. I am terrible I know.

Ha Mrs B love your honesty tho! lol

I think a lot of us are like that for our first baby tho I know I was we had everything brand new, but I think thats just a first baby thing at times oh and a pushy MIL! lol

This time tho as long as its clean and good condition I am happy to have stuff from family and friends etc xxx

i've got some excellent almost new stuff from friends which i am so grateful for!!!
The only things i have bought are buggy and 6 vests, 6 babygros and a blanket. I hate clutter so trying to keep equipment down to minimum. I think a lot of parents go overboard and im delighted to use preloved things and then pass them on or back

Mine will b a mixture, got a pramette off my sil that was hardly used, gettin my cot back off her aswell, also gettin Moses basket and chair from hair that she's currently lent out so will b third hand by the time I get but I don't mind xxx

All sounds great to me! Just had my pregnant fried over whos 3 months ahead of me so more hand me downs!! ;-) xxx

We'll definately be keeping everything ready for the next baby too! Im not spending all this money again!!! Already got the storage boxes at the ready!!! Im the first of my friends to get pregnant so didnt get many offers except some REALLY old stuff from aunts and uncles etc...
