Faith never has a full bottle in one go. She'll drink maybe 60ml then about half hour later another 60ml... then maybe some more... she never finishes a bottle in the 2 hours that you can keep it for before it has to be chucked..

How do I get her to take a full one and go longer in-between?

She is on a number 2 TT teat and she drinks the 60ml in one go nice and quickly but she never wants any more. Even after winding and trying to get her to take it.

any suggestions??? it drives me mad and means we waste a lot of formula...

I honestly dont think if she doenst want it you can give it her, The only thing id suggest is feed her little and often, so only make up 60ml bottles maybe

Really you'll just have to wait until she starts draining a 60ml bottle and then make up some more and so on. Same thing happened to us at the start. When Becky did this our HV suggested trying to distract her for 15 mins or so when she was grizzling for food so she was hungrier and took more at the next feed. Personally I didn't like this and went with the flow and it wasn't long before she was taking 120ml... 150ml and now she takes up to 180ml per feed.

Is the teat too fast for her? It could be she's taking it too quickly.

Evie is taking 7oz every 3/4 hours now but still no no.1 TT teats as otherwise she drinks 4ozs then brings half of it up and wants more an hour later! :wall:

Whoops, I started a thread about this exact same problem. We are on tt number 2 teats also  I did try the old teats again but they frustrate him. Keep posting updates and I will too, it will be good to hear from you if you figure out a solution or if it just clears up. Here's hoping it is just a phase!

Thanks everyone :)

Becs - I will keep you updated :)

We did try number 1 teats again - we were on number 2 because of the comfort milk being thicker but then when we started on soya milk we tried the number 1 teats. It was taking her ages and she wasn't really getting anywhere, she is better on number 2.

She is still snacking - last night between 11pm and 11am this morning she took feeds in small amounts so we ended up using 5 different bottles! She woke up at about 2:30am crying for food and took 40ml, that was it! Before going back to sleep!.

We have started putting less in her bottles and making sure we have extra ready to make-up in case she does want more, it just means we're sterilising a lot more, I think I may invest in some more bottles.

I guess she is just a snacker!

If you're going to be buying more bottles anyway, it might be worth trying different one. The TT teats sqish easily to the side and seem slightly harder for DD to drink out of than the Avent ones. We use a size 2 teat with avent.

Phoebe has always been a bit like this. She has gotten better as she got older, however, she also got worse again around Faith's age as there was too much to look at to be drinking milk!

Even now she'll only take enough to take the edge off her hunger - then she just chews the teat end and looks around, I normally persevere until she's had 4oz (we make up 6oz, she normally drinks 5ish) and then know that I'll have to feed her within the next 2-3 hours.

I do find now tho that when she has a fussy bottle, the next one she might then be hungry enough to take a lot more, e.g today she hardly took 4oz, then the next bottle 6oz.

We use Dr Browns with teat size 2 (with thick milk).
