In case I have the wrong end of the stick, can you tell me how you girls would read this section of the T&Cs from my course:

Distance Learning and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses only. The full course fee is payable at time of booking. If you cancel or transfer within 28 days, the deposit, or 10% of the full course fee, is non-refundable and you will be liable to an administration fee of £75 (£150 for Diploma in Nutritional Therapy). Beyond this period, no transfers or cancellations will be permitted.

Do you read it as:

You have 28 days from the start of the course date to cancel

or

You have 28 days from the time of booking to cancel

I'm trying to re-book on a later course, and they are arguing the toss with me and I want to make sure I'm not getting it wrong. Thanks girls :)

*hide* i say from time of booking hun

BUT its not clear so you could argue the toss with them

Yeah I'm trying to rebook, but they want to hold all my cash until September. Seeing as it's £3k I'd rather they didn't!

Ideally I'd like them to return everything but the 10% deposit, and transfer the deposit onto the next course as that's what the deposit is for, to secure a course date.

Ok, just seen another clause that states:

A letter of cancellation, together with an alternative booking (on our enrolment form), must be received at our head office no later than 28 days before the start date of the original course. In such circumstances any fees paid, including the deposit will be transferred to the alternative course. In the case of cancellations not accompanied by an alternative booking, a refund of fees paid, less the 10% deposit, will only be made if the cancellation is received at our head office no later than 28 days before the start date of the course. N.B. No refund will be given for changes or cancellations made with less than 28 days notice. Under no circumstances can the deposit be refunded. An administration fee will be levied for any changes.

All their info says they need full payment 28 days before the course starts, but the thing is, I didn't even start when the course started. I started 7 days after the course started, and paid then. So basically I have no rights at all, as I started and paid late :wall2:

Can you not try putting that to them, that you couldn't have cancelled 28 days prior to the start date? It would be pretty unreasonable of them not to see your point on this?

if you didnt start til after the course had started, surely they should allow you 28 days from when you started?? cos otherwise you're not getting 28 days really are you? that doesnt make much sense, but i'm sure you know what i mean lol xx

i agree with that actually.. you should get your 28days

They are refusing to budge, so have just rebooked instead. I do want to continue anyway, and I'm not willing to argue the toss tbh with my lecturer (not even someone in accounts!)
