I am 6 weeks tomorrow and today I've had my first bout of nausea! I only feel sick and off food at the moment. How do you ladies get over it and get on with your lives? Does it get in the way of work, or keeping it a secret till 12 weeks?

Sipping water helps and eating little and often. I really hope you don't suffer too much xxx

My first pregnancy was pretty awful amd the only thing that made me feel human was flat lemonade. This time nothing seems to ease it!

Its really important to keep hydrated. Even if you don't feel like eating anything. I ended up getting a nasty water infection 2 weeks ago and it makes you feel alot worse xxx lots and lots of water!

Yeah the water sipping helps me too :)

Yay for nausea! I always think it's a good sign :) xxx

Oh how awful, do you think it was due to lack of drinking?? I am drinking a lot of water as I'm always thirsty xx

Sympathies. I agree with the above, and I found that I needed to drink way more than normal, even though I didn't feel like it. I kind of ignored my thirst initially as I felt so rotten, then had a day without going for a pee at all before realising I was dry as a stick! So make sure to keep up with your fluid intake.

Oooohhhh the Nausea!!!! Ohhhhh the sickness!!

I am really struggling with this!! Every time I eat I think I am ok and then whammy!!! the nausea!!!

I feel so rotten :-( Thankfully I seem to have sickness at night so can hide it from work and pray it stays that way!!

They only thing I am finding helps is sleep and lots of it!!

Also water but has to be ice cold!!

I hope you feel better as it progresses hunny xxxxx

Thanks ladies!! I have found that I'm more constipated now!! I've not eaten much but what I have is dry carbs. I'm happy though, it's all a good sign that I'm pregnant xx

Plenty of water will help with the constipation too! Hope you feel better soon x

I've been wearing anti-sickness bands and they're amazing, completely stop the nausea, so much so that I have to take them off every now and then just to reassure myself that it's still there ;-) xx

Ohhh I'll try them unicorn!! Where did you get yours from?? That's a great idea xx

Ooohhh, Where are these anti sickness bands from....I have to give them a try, I am so sick!!

The acupressure ones? Usually anywhere that sells travel items..
Boots usually sell them xxx

what life i can barely function im going back to the drs today and try and get signed of again. sea bands are a good idea i may try and get out to get some today

I can't believe the side effects in tri 1, yet this is the time to keep it a secret! I don't know how women keep this hidden, go to work, see freiends and family. I'm trying to hide away, it's so obvious I'm pregnant!! Xx

Aww, sorry to hear about the nausea Anne! I was taking plain crisps or crackers into work with me and if I felt sick I'd have a nibble, that seemed to work. I'd just make myself eat at lunch and once I started eating it seemed fine! All the water advice is good too. I'm just over 12 weeks now and feel more 'normal' - less exhausted and all ;-) look after yourself! X

I am the same finding the nausea overwhelming and it does get me down at times. I can't stand the smell of most things either especially washing powder, shampoo, cleaning products, coffee, the list goes on and on lol. I find the only thing helps is trying to keep busy to take my mind off it, sleeping and eating extra strong mints!! I hope it eases for everyone it's comforting to know it's a good sign but at the same time it's miserable and seems to go on forever! X

I have just ordered some sea bands today.

I'm so lucky that I have my own office I can hide away in, I am eating dry cereal to try and keep something in my tummy.

I am totally craving Tuna, but i know you aren't meant to eat a lot of it!!

I really don't know how others manage to hide this, I am full of the cold too which i think has helped mask my sickness!!

It's all for the best reason, we just need to keep our spirits up and take each day as it comes just now I guess!!

xxxxxxx

I've never been able to hide my pregnancies as get signed off for hyperemesis gravidarum from 6-14wks in my first 2 pregnancies and somehow was just off 8-13wks this time. I'm on really strong anti sickness meds as they are the only way I keep anything down and have been in hospital on a drip for dehydration.

Nausea really does suck and the sea sickness bands are really good. I also second staying hydrated and well rested. The less sleep I get and if I don't drink enough I feel awful xx

Well I'm glad we're in it together! Hope you're all feeling better soon, I feel worse afternoon/evening. I'm drinking and weeing a lot. I'm going to order the sickness bands. It's so hard to hide this away from friends and family. I want to tell everyone about the pregnancy on xmas, so not long ekk xx
