My LO is 12 months and sleeps well through the night. However his naps are shocking- never more than 30 mins and sometimes only once a day- he always wakes up from them crying and I think he's really tired. He will only nap when out and about in the buggy. Is it worth trying to nap train? Or do I just go with it the way it is? At least the weather is improving. He just seems to find it harder and harder to drop off now which is why sometimes he misses the second nap- I push him round for 30-40 mins and he's still wide awake!!!

My little girl has been the same since about 6 months old... she's 11 Months now... currently we have been fighting a nap for an hour... she is shattered but refuses to take a nap... instead is emptying out the nappy drawer onto the living room floor... there have been times when i've had to put her into her pushchair to nap

I think naps are a really tough thing because what works for some people doesn't work for others. My daughter was a pest, I used to have to wrap her and rock her to sleep for a nap and could take half an hour or more. I eventually got her into a routine at about 14 months where she had one nap a day for 1-2 hours starting about 12ish, I loosely wrapped her in a blanket on the sofa and sat beside her til she fell asleep. When my son came along when she was 15 months he napped whenever he wanted to until he was about 8 months when he fell into her routine. Sometimes he would wake after 45 minutes but if I held him for ten minutes he'd go back to sleep for another hour. Now both of them (2 year old and 1 on Sunday) nap everyday from about 1-3pm and being pregnant I nap with them now. I still just bounce him for 3 minutes in a bouncy chair and he is asleep. I think he is tired enough to fall asleep easily and not fight it. He doesn't have any other naps and doesn't appear to need them. But my friends two who are the same ages as mine are totally different. I think you have to use your instinct to decide what is best for your baby's mood and to keep you sane! X

My lo was like this for ages, his naps eventually got longer when he was about 17 months and now he usually has one nap of 1 1/2 hours a day, it's unpredictable whether it will be morning or afternoon but it's still much better. When my lo started walking and talking more he started to need a proper sleep in the day so hopefully you'll find the same x

my daughter had around 30 minute naps from day 1 I just used to go with it.

I agree qith Browneyed Girl. When my lo got to walking i found she needed more sleep. She always had just one nap my lo where aa friends of mine were still putting theirs down for 2/3 naps a day. Now sometimes she just won't go or i know she's just not tired so she just goes to bed 15mins to half an hour earlier.

Maybe try pushing the nap back. Mine used to nap at 10.30. Now i put her down no later than 1 o'clock. If it gets past 1 now i keep her up otherwise her bedtime goes back to like 8/9 and im pulling my hair out lol

Good luck x

Thanks for the comments- helpful as always xx have decided not to stress about it- I think I was relying too much on his napping to get jobs done so have decided not to do that anymore- will just go with it. It'll be interesting to see if walking/talking makes him nap more- thank you!
