Well I had my little boy a bit early and not exactly in a great way.

It started about a week ago now where I notice that my baby was not moving as much as normal but was still doing the minimum movements that are recommended. So I tried not to worry too much. But on Saturday I was scraping the bottom of the barrel to count kicks but still managed to get the recommended daily count. But then we went to a fire works show. I was expecting the baby to go mental and start squirming like a Lady GaGa music video but he didn't. So the next morning I decided "stuff it if I look silly I'm going in!"

While waiting for the MW to put the trace on I felt two strongish kicks and I though "oh here we go." But then nothing else. Anyway his HR was around 148 and stayed there but once again my body was contracting on a regular basis (has happened in all my pregnancies) and I could not feel it. They were stumped apparently they were strong enough to be felt according to the machine. They ended up saying the trace was not good so they would move me to another observation room and do some more tests. They took my BP and it was up again 140/90 (it was 129/82 at my check up on the Wednesday before). That's the high side of normal but has happened every pregnancy for me on the day I deliver. Once again they start saying it has to be Pre-eclampsia so they checked my urine but once again it's negative for protein. NOTHING was making sense AGAIN (happened with my daughter).

While in there the midwives asked where my husband was. When I told them he was looking after our older kids they asked if he could get them babysat ASAP. So that's when I started to freak a little bit. About 30mins later they said you need to ring your husband now as in get here now NOW. Cue the massive freak out so I rang and he was in the car park. As soon as he arrived I was sent out for a a in depth scan. Apparently it was not good and the flow in the cord had slowed right down. So He had to come out.

It was a public holiday weekend here in Australia so there was only an intern on duty when I went in. He had been sending all my tests results to the head of Obstetrics for the hospital all day asking for advice as it was her day off. She could not believe any of the results that were being sent to her so she came in to look through them herself.

When the scan was finished we were admitted and thought that I would be settled for the night. to tell you the truth we had no idea what the hell was going on. All of a sudden the head of obstetrics walks in with people following her like ants at a picnic. On Nurse gave my husband his scrubs another put the bed flat while some others prepared me for a C section. All of a sudden I was on my way to an OR with the surgeon explaining what was going on on the way basically and me signing mine and my baby's life away putting complete faith in this stranger.

I got to theatre and I had a spinal put in they laid me down and within what felt like no time at all I heard those words "It's a Boy!" and I heard his cry. Thank goodness he was crying!!!!!!

Sorry forgot his pictures.

Thanks guys. The surgeon came a spoke to me yesterday. She asked if I was told how sick Matthew was when he was born. I wasn't and she informed me that if I had waited even just another 12 hours it would be a much different story. She still finds all the tests I had very strange but the only thing that seems to fit is PE but it also doesn't iykwim.

Since he has been born they have been doing regular blood screens and have found some interesting things. They have found his platelets are very low. This is not unusual in "premies" (my body had stopped feeding him so he stopped growing and developing properly around 34 weeks it concerntrated on keeping him alive) but his were low to start off then they dropped then picked up then dropped again and so on. It was like he had an infection but all tests indicate he does not. They looked through my notes and my body was reacting like it had an infection sort of (the PE that isn't PE). The doctor explained it that I was sending antibodies through the placenta trying to get rid of him. They now think this is what happened with my first 2 kids and why I had the MCs. It was just missed with them because they made it to 37 + weeks and they didn't need help to fight off the antibodies my body had left with them. We've been referred to a specialist just incase I fall pregnant again. It's like the rhesus factor but I'm A+ so it's not that I'm just allergic to my husbands DNA maybe vice versa we're going to find out.

Anyway he's one lucky little man and thanks to him I now know why I had the MCs and I will be fully prepared if we ever have another child. He's such a trouper and I just rang his hospital (he got moved to a special one for babies) and he has just had a transfusion so we are hoping he will be on the mend and at home with us by my birthday next week. That would be the most amazing Birthday Present EVER! To have him home.

Congratulations again, Liz. Matthew is a real cutie.

I am so glad you trusted your instincts and went into the hospital even if you thought you might look 'silly'. Fingers crossed Matthew is home for your birthday!

Make sure you are looking after yourself as well.

Wow, he is gorgeous and you did brilliantly for trusting your instincts!!xxx

Wow Liz, thank goodness you trusted your instincts and Matthew is here safe and sound. It must be a real relief to know whats been causing the problems now too x

Wow. So thankful they got him out when they did. Just goes to show nothing is more powerful than a mothers instinct. Congratulations and hope he's home soon!! X

Tapatalking :-D Can't see tickers...

Sorry you've had such a scary time, glad your boy is safe now though!

I know with the Rh factor there is more than one of them, they only routinely test for the Rh D factor because it is the most common. Being Rh+ just means you are Rh D positive but you could be negative for a different Rh factor and have created antibodies for it.
