Well I had my little boy a bit early and not exactly in a great way.
It started about a week ago now where I notice that my baby was not moving as much as normal but was still doing the minimum movements that are recommended. So I tried not to worry too much. But on Saturday I was scraping the bottom of the barrel to count kicks but still managed to get the recommended daily count. But then we went to a fire works show. I was expecting the baby to go mental and start squirming like a Lady GaGa music video but he didn't. So the next morning I decided "stuff it if I look silly I'm going in!"
While waiting for the MW to put the trace on I felt two strongish kicks and I though "oh here we go." But then nothing else. Anyway his HR was around 148 and stayed there but once again my body was contracting on a regular basis (has happened in all my pregnancies) and I could not feel it. They were stumped apparently they were strong enough to be felt according to the machine. They ended up saying the trace was not good so they would move me to another observation room and do some more tests. They took my BP and it was up again 140/90 (it was 129/82 at my check up on the Wednesday before). That's the high side of normal but has happened every pregnancy for me on the day I deliver. Once again they start saying it has to be Pre-eclampsia so they checked my urine but once again it's negative for protein. NOTHING was making sense AGAIN (happened with my daughter).
While in there the midwives asked where my husband was. When I told them he was looking after our older kids they asked if he could get them babysat ASAP. So that's when I started to freak a little bit. About 30mins later they said you need to ring your husband now as in get here now NOW. Cue the massive freak out so I rang and he was in the car park. As soon as he arrived I was sent out for a a in depth scan. Apparently it was not good and the flow in the cord had slowed right down. So He had to come out.
It was a public holiday weekend here in Australia so there was only an intern on duty when I went in. He had been sending all my tests results to the head of Obstetrics for the hospital all day asking for advice as it was her day off. She could not believe any of the results that were being sent to her so she came in to look through them herself.
When the scan was finished we were admitted and thought that I would be settled for the night. to tell you the truth we had no idea what the hell was going on. All of a sudden the head of obstetrics walks in with people following her like ants at a picnic. On Nurse gave my husband his scrubs another put the bed flat while some others prepared me for a C section. All of a sudden I was on my way to an OR with the surgeon explaining what was going on on the way basically and me signing mine and my baby's life away putting complete faith in this stranger.
I got to theatre and I had a spinal put in they laid me down and within what felt like no time at all I heard those words "It's a Boy!" and I heard his cry. Thank goodness he was crying!!!!!!
Sorry forgot his pictures.
