Well thought I'd get this written up while my little chunk is sound asleep 
My contractions started at 5am on Tuesday morning 28/2/2012 waking me up out of a sleep they were so strong in my lower back the pain was unreal I could hardly stand up so I came downstairs & sat on my exercise ball & took 2 paracetamols to ease the pain got to about 6am and they were pretty much the same just constant in my back so I called my hospital which is a midwife led unit they told me to come in at 8am.
So got to hospital for dead on 8 and was desperate for gas & air but was advised to try a bath first tried the bath & managed to stay in it for around 20 minutes, got out had gas & air which was fab!!! made me feel quite drunk lol! Wanted to try for a water birth so got in the pool & things began to progress quite quickly I wasnt getting a break in between my contractions at all really as baby was lying awkward they were all in my lower back lost a lot of my plug in the pool but no waters as yet time went quite quickly & I only got my first internal examination at 4pm after 3 gas&air canisters 
... & I was 4cm dilated so midwife said I would probably only get another 1cm dilated every 2 hours afterwards so it got to 530pm & I got a new midwife and she felt I needed another internal so she checked & I was 9cm with my waters bulging just about to break & at the same time I got a contraction & my waters went with it but there was meconium in them so had to have an ambulance called as my maternity ward aren't equipped to deal with any complications so ambulance arrived within about 15 mins seemed like hours and I kept getting the constant urge to push which is such an overwhelming strange feeling especially when you need to try and avoid pushing and breathe through... so was rushed to hospital 30 minutes away 140mph blue flashing lights sirens the lot which was pretty terrifying in itself!!
Got to hospital & put into delivery room still only on gas & air told midwife I really had to push so was asked to try & push but babys heartbeat kept dropping everytime so they put the monitor on his head & took 3 scrapings from top of his head to test his oxygen levels they came back quite low & meant I needed a forcep delivery my legs were put up in the stirrups and I was given the diamorphine jag then she numbed me down below as I needed an episiotomy & she continued with the forcep delivery I was asked to push & 3 pushes got his head out then his shoulders became stuck & my legs had to be pushed further back to dislodge them with another few almighty pushes I gave birth to my son 
he was placed on me after 14 hours of labour & I couldn't believe it he was here I produced this perfect little boy I just looked at OH and we both couldn't help but cry 
he was taken over to the incubator beside me & checked over to make sure he never breathed in any meconium & then he let out an amazing cry which made me cry even more best sound in the world at that point .... he was given to his daddy & I was stitched up inside & out which took 50 minutes all in & I lost a lot of blood & was put on to a drip & had a catheter inserted ... after that I was handed my not so little 9lb 1oz beautiful baby boy we were only in hospital until 530pm the following day & then I got to bring my perfect little family home hes now 5 days old and it feels like hes been here forever he is amazing! I'm still recovering from my delivery getting there slowly but surely just so happy to finally have my family together
