Had check up today and MW said that as my last birth was so quick and easy that i should think about a home birth for this one. What are the thoughts on this?

As this is my first, I obviously don't have any experiences of my own. But My brother has 3 boys, and the last was born in December at home and they said it was the best thing to do and would defo do it again.

MW Was with them within 10-15 mins and was by their side throughout the whole 11 hours.

This is going to be my first and I would like a home birth so far my pregnancy has been completely normal and healthy and I would feel better having her at home :D but it is a matter of what you personally would prefer.x

As I was quick (4 hours with my first) and they have told me I must get into hospital very quick this time, I think they expect me to pop like a champagne cork!! (now Ive said that its going to be a reeeaaaallllyyy slow birth isnt it!!)

I was told that my/babies body is more likely to go into shock because of the speed it is likely to come so I would have to convince my consultant I should have a home birth, but TBH I have a few other complications that could be the reason I was given advice to have a hospital birth.

I just had one and would recommened it if its what you want :)

It was wonderful (can read birth story here http://www.pregnancyforum.co.uk/forum/v ... hp?t=76300 )

If you have a good pregnancy, are happy and fully informed then I think its a great choice. I was advised against a homebirth but had one anyways as I felt it was the best thing for myself and my baby. I'd had a great pregnancy and trusted my mind and body.

If you've got a supportive MW who deals in homebirthing and she is happy, then give it some serious thought.

Great site and loads of info :) Well worth reading

Any questions drop me a PM, happy to help :)

My last baby(and my first) was 3 hours from first twinge to being born, and my midwife also suggested one.

I really dont fancy it just in case anything happens to either of us, I would just sooner be in hospital and then come straight out.
But thats just me.

You're in a privileged position to have a midwife actually suggesting a home birth, so many women come up against resistance when they bring it up.

Given your history, I think if I were in your shoes I would give it some serious thought. A water birth at home sounds fab.

A small part of me would like a home birth but I didn't have a straight forward time of things with my first and my instincts are telling me a hospital birth would be better for me. Like Karen1969 said, I'd rather go to hospital and come straight back out - I was in for a week before and a week after the birth with my son :( Nothing to say that things won't be more straight forward 2nd time around though, I'll certainly be staying at home for as long as poss.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do
