I'm not officially in here until Wed (I'm working on the 13 weeks pregnant=being in 14th week theory is this right?!) but I'm just curious if anyone is looking at home birthing? x I really really want a home birth even though I know it's early to be thinking about this! Any advice/experiences would be so gratefully recieved! x I had an easy birth with DD, 2 hours full labour with no pain relief (gas and air made me sick) so I'm not concerned about that I just wanna gather as much info/advice etc as I can x x x

Having difficulty getting your care providers to support your home birth?

Contact here if you have issues with the email address quoted in the post this is an alternative [email protected]

To see how your hospital compares to others in supporting HB Google 'Healthcare Commission's Survey Results' and the name of your hospital....you can see how they compare against other hospitals in the UK and the national averages.

Thank you so so so so much! I loved Reading your home birth story! It was so wonderful! I'm really interested in the hypnobirthing stuff as the mw I had with DD spent alot of time with me talking about thinking about the end goal and how every contraction was a step nearer. It made it easier for me to ride the contractions (and I have a really high pain threshold!). I'll start on the links now!

Quick question-been having a read and on one of the sites the author says to stick to your guns about having home birth regardless of what the labour ward say regarding sending mw's. I'm not particularly concerned but my OH is concerned that if they say they are unable to send a mw out it's risky to stay at home. What's your opinion on this?

if you go into labour at home they HAVE to send out a midwife by law

lots of places will tell you they cant or make noises like they are not going to but they have to - end of

That should ease his worries then! Lol x I'm really stubborn and am determined to have home birth as long as it's medically safe to! My mw has been really supportive so far, fingers crossed!

he will appreciate the experience so much more if you are at home, he will have tea to make for midwives, he will be the one that knows where the towels/clean sheets/food is for you

In a hospital situation its very easy for a woman to become a sort of factory part on a conveyor belt and the man to become no more than a spare part... From people i have spoken to the men feel far far more comfortable at home because they have a purpose

plus when you have your little baby, and you look into its eyes for the first time, it wont be with the knowledge that you have to sleep in a noisy hospital ward and he has to go home to an empty cot and bed without the pair of you.

One major reason i am wanting a homebirth is because Liam is a huge part of me and I him and our baby is a culmination of that, if he had to go home to sleep alone whilst i stayed in hospital overnight with the baby i think both of our hearts would break...

we are going to enjoy our first nights sleep together, in our bed, with our baby - because thats how it should be

(and yes i realise the 'first nights sleep' will really be 'the first night of worry and barely sleeping' but i am feeling optimistic today ;) )

Lol bb, that is a major part of my descision-the fact OH won't have to leave, he can be actively involved and we can get settled into our life together as a bigger family. The stats on the sites have really helped settle my mind into it more and reassure OH! x
