Hey ladies!

Me and OH are moving this week , moving quite a distance around 300miles. have had my booking and scans and having 12 week scan on thursday (the day we move) but now will be registering with new GP next week

Anyone done this before? did they find it was complicated? will i have to book in again?

Questions questions :)

I'm on blood thinning injections prescribed by my consultant for this pregnancy too so hoping that dosnt complicate things :( , i have just picked up a prescription so have nearly a months supply to keep me going.

xxx

sorry no advice but good luck with the move x

oooh i hope it all goes well for you nurse, ive seen other threads saying that moving gp was easy but the hospital was the bit that got confused and complicated things

No advice Im afraid Nurse - but really good luck with the move and new start. xxxxx

moving from an island off scotland to glasgow! we have a flat in glasgow but not been able to stay in it for the past couple of years due to moving for OH's work, so cant wait to get back :) xxx

Wow hope u have a good move! :) hope u are very happy xx

I work for the Department of Health and can tell you that changing your GP registration should be very easy. In England it simply involves locating a GP Practice that you would like to register with, then contacting them by phone/in person and asking to register with them. If they are accepting new patients they will probably ask you to come in for a check up and to prove you are who you say you are and that you do actually live in their catchment area. But once you've signed up with them, they will then get your notes transferred from your old GP. I assume the process is similar, if not the same in Scotland, but as you know the English and Scottish NHS do operate slightly differently.

In terms of needing to book in again, I think you probably will, because you'll have a new midwife team and will need to choose which hospital to give birth at in Glasgow. But you'll already have your pregnancy notes with you, so I wouldn't have thought it would take as long as the initial booking in appointment, just the new midwife team getting up to speed on your details and then booking you in to the new hospital.

Good luck with the move.

how exciting hun im sure you will get it all sorted. best of luck and every happiness with the move xxxx

Thanks for the well wishes ladies! we are both so excited about moving back to our flat and getting some work done in it :)

Thanks toni, that sounds like it would be no trouble then, i shall get cracking with changing this week, there is a GP surgery i have already been registered with before so will go back to then, the new hospital is only 5 minutes from our flat too so should be handy for appointments too :)

shall let you all know how the big move goes :) xxx
