Morning Sickness Support Thread!

Hi ChloeNat, sorry to hear you are feeling unwell. Have you managed to find ways to cope yet? Do you feel it only in the morning or during other times of the day too? Dont know whether it would help you but I find eating breadsticks helps a bit. They don't smell :) x

Morning sickness seems to be getting worse. Which I suppose is a good sign that things are progressing well, but I really struggle first thing in the morning and then right through the day til dinner time. I'm usually ok from about 7pm onwards but I'm now suffering constantly all day. It's not actually being sick though. It's just nausea so I kinda feel a bit like a fraud :( Not sure how I'm going to cope back at work tomorrow after over a week off!! :(

How is everyone else getting on with their sickness and nausea? X

Hi Cossie, I am struggling as well. I feel nauseous every day, all day long, so can't eat much really. But a couple of days a week a get really sick and throw up up to 5times a day (these days are the worst for me). It's hard, isn't it? You just wonder when this nausea will stop and you will be able to enjoy food again :) Do you manage to eat a bit and stay hydrated?

Bless you happy :( sounds like you have it really rough. It's super hard because on one hand you kinda wish the symptoms would just disappear but on the other hand I know I'd rather be nauseous and sick and have a perfectly healthy pregnancy than not have anything and things to not go as smoothly. And then of course I feel bad because there are so many women who would kill to be in our position because they're struggling to get pregnant. It's really tough!

I'm not eating as much as I should or the right things (I can only seem to cope with plain crisps) but I am making sure I drink lots of water because I don't want to end up in hospital on a drip!

I have really bad nausea I feel very hung over I told this to nurse and she's suggested a sea band I still have nausea but is not as bad as it is with out them xx

Hi Cossie, oh yes, I know what you are saying :) Mixed feelings- on the one hand I keep thinking oh my word, I just want to be able to drink and eat and feel OK. But then on the other hand, the most important is that everything is OK with the baby, so if I feel sick, then it's just the way it is... I do remind myself that it's just a period in time and it will not last forever! I am really hoping that 2 trimester will be easier :)

I bet you are looking forwards to your 12w scan! Mine is not really arranged yet, I will have my 1st appt with mw next week and then hopefully will get booked for my scan too. It's exciting :)

It's good to stay hydrated and very important! I have a really sweet taste in my mouth and can't really stand water :( but I drink tomato juice with salt. And warm milk. (not at the same time though!) Weird I know :)

Are your shoulder pains gone now Cossie?

Hi Holli, thanks for this idea. I might try it out. Where did you get yours from?

Ooo I might try tomato juice happy, I got mine from Lloyds chemist cost £8.50 but it's a pack of 2 one for each wrist and I tell a massive difference when I take them off but you have to have them in the right spot right on the pressure point. Xx

Ahhhh, Holli, it might be a lifesaver for me! Even when not pregnant I suffer from travel sickness and these bands would help in this case too! Thanks a lot, will give them a try :)

As for tomato juice. It's my favourite drink at the moment :) there is a lot of ones that are made from concentrate, so I was having these before I realised that it would be good to have a fresh one. So I researched and they had fresh pressed tomato juice in Waitrose! It costs £1.60. I bought 2yesterday and now nearly run out :) try it out - it's nice and a bit salty - yum :) xx

I have travel sickness bands and I find they're a bit hit and miss. Some days they work and others I don't feel like they do!

Yes thank you happy! There's a dull ache there that's not too bad but no sharp pains. If they come back I'll be calling midwife straight away :)

I'm feeling sick all day every day. It's awful. I had to be hospitalised to get IV fluids! I hope it eases off soon as I'm completely incapacitated by it :(

Hi paleandsquishy, sorry to hear you are going through such a hard time. Are you feeling better after getting fluids at the hospital? What were their criteria for admission? Sorry for stupid questions... I feel nauseous every day but throw up now and then and when I do, it's bad. Throwing up up to 5times a day, feeling tired and dizzy. I am in bed all day today. It's been one of those bad days when I throw up ((( can't keep much down to be honest. I don't get it this bad every day, but I am concerned about my weight so will be calling doctors tomorrow. Feeling so sad :( my heart goes to you, as I know both nausea and sickness are so hard to cope together with tiredness, worries etc. I hope we feel better soon! It's so good to be able to share how we feel here!

I feel a little better than I did then but still monumentally awful! Sorry you're feeling the same. They admitted me because there were ketone in my urine indicating the stress on my kidneys. I'd been feeling very weak and dizzy and my pee was dark (I'd recommend only buying white toilet roll as it makes it easier to keep an eye on). Def phone your dr if you're concerned just to be on the safe side xx

Hope you’re feeling better now paleandsquishy. I had a day of not feeling too bad yesterday and had started to panic by the end of the day that no nausea = bad news. But today it’s hit back with a vengeance! I feel so weak today and I’ve got to see my nan today and she doesn’t know yet (don’t really want to tell her til after 12 week Scan) but I’m not sure how I’m going to hide it today. I’m rather large around the midrif now (I’ve heard that’s normal in second pregnancies to start showing a bit or a lot earlier!) and I’m suffering with nausea and extreme fatigue. I would cancel on my nan but she’s the sort of person who will just cry and pull the whole ‘don’t you love me’ stunt and make me feel guilty especially after she gave DS £100 to spend in Disney while we were on holiday so cancelling isn’t really an option!

Hey Ladies Im dipping a toe in tentatively,
I found out two days ago I'm pregnant again, although I knew earlier as I stated to get nausea,
This time around it so much worse, which Im not complaining about as its reassuring to me, and every time mine went away before it was a sign id lost the baby!
However, Im feeling ROUGH today, and tonight is my birthday party.
What do you all suggest to keep it at bay, so I can have a good time tonight?
Its already going to be weird enough that I'm not drinking, So I don't want to add to the suspicion of me looking green all night :)
Thankyou

Hi paleandsquishy, I had the same. Had 2days of throwing up every time I tried to eat/drink. I began feeling extremely dizzy, sleepy, cold and shaky. Called the epac, they advised to go straight to A&E. They found ketones in my wee and put me on a drip for a couple of days. I can eat and drink now.

How are you feeling? Have you been prescribed any anti sickness after you've been at the hospital? Xx

Hi ladies. I'm still feeling awful. Don't get me wrong, I am very excited about my baby but I am hating being pregnant. I went shopping yesterday and was so exhausted after only an hour that DH had to half carry me home. I'm not used to being so dependent on other people and I don't like it. Had a big cry yesterday as I feel bad for getting pregnant while fat but I've always been fat! Hate having gestational diabetes hanging over my head. Gonna phone the dr and see about getting some of this support they said they offer as feeling a bit alone and miserable atm :(

How are you all feeling? Xx

I’m starting to have days now where I’m not too bad. As long as I eat little and often I’m ok. But then I have days like today where food just won’t go down. It’s like I can’t physically swallow anything. And then there the migraines that have started :(

I actually love being pregnant. And I have really missed it since having DS but I haven’t missed this nausea! I know what you mean though!
