Month Three on Clomid...

Google tells me that 80% of viable pregnancies come about in the first 3 months of using clomid... I am now on month three, and have three more months supply. For the last two months I've had 29 day cycles and have ovulated on days 13 and 14, it's been lovely! I pray that it happens this month... It does seem from all the stories I've read that it happens quickly on clomid or not at all.

I hate Google. I feel even worse than usual now.

I have a follow up mid cycle scan next week. Can I request further tests now (which they plan to do after the 6 months treatment), or is it far too early and pointless?

Hi Hun my friend has been having IUI treatments and she did 3 and the nurse said to her that more often than not if its going to happen it does so within the first three months, she could not take doing anymore of them so requested an appointment with the consultant, she requested to stop them and go straight to IVF and they start in June on IVF!

It's worth asking if you are struggling, how long have you been ttc? For our clinic you need to be trying for 2 years before they will start IVF. Have you had a lap and dye? Or hycosy scan? I wish I had asked because 6 months of clomid was tough!!

We have not been trying for about a year (but clinic thinks it's about 18 months, shhh). I haven't had anything else (other than the usual blood tests ect) - they are going to do the lap and dye, and anything else, after the 6 months are up.

I wonder why it usually happens in the first few months? If it takes a "normal" couple up to a year to conceive naturally, you would it could also take a year on clomid - seeing as technically, we have only been trying for 2 months with normal cycles!

I don't particularly want anything intrusive, if it's not needed (obviously). Then again, I don't want to wait another three months without success, to then wait even longer for some more tests...

You could ask to stop the clomid and try naturally for the next 3 months and then go for further tests? With the clomid i found it too disappointing when I got AF, it was more pressure and mentally it was easier to try naturally, but if you don't ovulate on your own then stick with the clomid for a few more months, esp if you have to wait that long for the tests anyway!?

I think if it was just an ovulation issue then it is more likely to happen in the first few months but if you look at how many hurdles there are to just get pregnant you can see why it can take a normal couple over a year!! We have just had ivf and they collected 20 eggs, 13 fertilised so that's 7 that did not even make it!! I think getting pregnant is just not that easy ( well for lots of people!)
You still could get pregnant soon Hun because you have been trying less than 2 years and if not at least you are in the system and on your way to tests etc, easy to say I know it feels like an age just waiting for each ovulation and then AF etc! We have been trying just about 3 years and it feels like a lifetime!!

My friend had Clomid hun n it was either cycle 5 or 6 that she fell as I remember her talking about the next step so don't give up hope.
