I have decided to try to properly mix feed Eva cos I cant cope with her demand feeding every hour in the evenings, not sleeping in the daytime and her getting so frustrated and crabby cos shes too tired to feed properly in the evening and my milk supply is very poor in the evenings. Its got to the point when she will scream nonstop from about 5pm till 9pm when she gets a 5oz bottle of formula that will send her off to sleep for the night.
Today I breastfed her at 7.30am with both boobs which were VERY full. Then at 9am, I gave her a 6oz bottle of formula which she downed in 10 mins. She slept for half an hour. Then at 12pm, breastfed her again with both boobs which were nicely full for about 10 mins and put her to sleep. She is still asleep now but OH will wake her up for a 6oz bottle of formula at 3pm. Then hopefully, she will wait till about 6ish for a feed from me and then another 6oz bottle at 8 to 9pm- ish.
Does that sound enough? I worry cos I have no idea how much she takes from me. I want to carry on breastfeeding but at the same time, i really need to establish a routine cos I have other children to pick up from school, cook the dinner etc and its near impossible to do that with Eva permanently attached to my boobs.
Expressing doesnt seem to work, mainly cos she can down a 7oz bottle of EBM in 10 mins and still wants feeding an hour later
Also expressing is a lot of work and it seems pointless to me to spend that time expressing and then feeding her out of a bottle.
