Hi ladies. I am just after a bit of advice. I have been constantly meaduring big. Above the 90th. I had my 34 week appointment earlier this week and didn't notice my chart until i got home. I am still measuring above the line. I am concerened but the midwife hasn't mentioned anything. Is it anything to worry about? I have attached a picture of my bump. I am 35 weeks tomorrow. X

Picture at 35 weeks x

Interested to know people's responses to this. I'm measuring slightly big and consultant is pretty non-communicative about it. Two appointments ago I was told he'd see me in 3weeks and if still big would request bloods. I went back and was told that I was still a little big, but just continuing on the same line, not growing at a faster rate than normal. I reminded him what he said about bloods, and asked 'was he was worried enough to order GTT'?. His response was to say that if it was worrying me, he'd book me in but thought it would be negative. Not exactly what I was asking him!

As mayflower said, as long as growth is consistent it really doesn't matter wherein the chart they sit. It would only be a concern if there as a big drop or big increase all of a sudden.
You have a lovely nice neat bump no need to worry x

Yes it is consistent. Not been a steep rise. Hopefully nothing to worry about x

Not an expert but bum looks perfect to me!

Tee hee ^^ you said "bum" :-)

Sorry, very childish, just made me laugh :-)

My first son was nine pounds and I measured spot on for my dates with him.

With this pregnancy I've consistently measured three weeks ahead. I've been for a couple of scans to check my fluid levels, which were fine. I've also had three GTTs because a large baby or excess fluid are both symptoms of gestational diabetes. All my GTTs have been at the higher end or normal so I think they've been worrying about it possibly turning into GD as I went further along, but it never has.

Every thing just points to I'm having another big baby, which is not a surprise given how big my first was!

I was the same at 25 wk appt I was measuring 28cm,when I went back for 28wk appt (I was 27+3) I was measuring 29cm!! I asks if it was a problem measuring big,but she said the same as another poster in that as long as you stay on your line it doesn't matter!! If it drops, raises or plateaux dramatically then they'll worry!! It's just concerning when they plot it on the graph and I'm not even in the grey band or even close to it!! But if you ware concerned just ask your midwife to reassure you!!xx

I think there is some truth in it when people say that bump size isn't always a good indicator of the size of the baby. There are other things going on that can make you look bigger/smaller.

Having said that, with my first I was always measuring big, I expressed my concerns to my MW and she said it was fine and refused me a growth scan. When DD arrived she was 10lb 1oz so very big indeed. I think this one will be similar.

If you are concerned I'd really push for a growth scan, but like I said before, it doesn't necessarily mean that baby is big, that's why most MW's don't worry about it, as long as growth is fairly consistent, like the others have said.

My midwife said she would only refer me for a growth scan I was measuring more than 2 weeks above or 2 weeks under x

I've just checked my measurements in my notes, my MW hasn't plotted it on the graph but I have and I can see I'm measuring 3 weeks ahead, she always says it's spot on!
