Hey ladies. Been to the midwifes today and I am measuring above the 90th centile. She said its quite normal for your first measurement to be bigger. I hope so as I don't want a big baby. Has anyone else experienced this?

They didn't begin measuring me that early but my first measurement was above the 95th so yep, know the feeling! Fundal height actually means very little when all is said and done, we had a growth scan when my Fundal height hadn't increased after a fortnight at 38 weeks but baby was measuring spot on the 50th centile after the scan, which is much more accurate. So nothing to worry about! :)

Yep I measured 32 weeks at 28 weeks. Thy sent me for diabetes test but all came back fine so the said they wouldn't do anymore tests and would jut accept baby is big x

I was in the assesment unit last Saturday with bleeding and the midwife there measured me at 30 weeks (I was 27+5) - way above the 95th percentile.

My midwife measured me on Tuesday and I was bang on 28 weeks - 50th percentile

I had a growth scan on Friday and they also measured me at bang on 28 weeks - 50th percentile.

If i ignore the first measurement, baby has been following the 50th percentile all along.

I had this a couple of weeks ago and was really worried as my MW thought it's could be down to excess fluid. Had a scan, all was fine and was told I am just having another big baby.

My first was 9lbs 1. I measured spot on for my dates throughout that pregnancy. I really wouldn't worry about having a large baby because it doesn't necessarily mean anything when it comes to delivery. Some say bigger babies are easier than small babies to deliver. I was a c-section in the end which had absolutely nothing to do with his size.

Don't worry too much. I measured 44 weeks at 38 weeks and was told I was having a huge baby...just as I was going I to labour! Baby was 7lb 6 so not big at all. Try not to worry too much x

There are lots of factors that can make bump measure more than the guidelines say; tummy wind, the way the baby is lying, if you have just eaten, how much fluid you have, being bloated etc it all makes a difference. I wouldn't worry too much about it, the most they will do is send you for an extra scan :)

I measured three inches 'big' all the way through tri three, and, following my initial measurement in which the mw scared me sh*tless by telling me I had to 'go to the hospital and be scanned NOW' (polyhydraminous pregnancy is where there is too much amniotic fluid and can indicate problems so they worry about that), no one was bothered by it. The scan she referred me for was absolutely fine and the rest of the tri all the mw kept joking about how I was going to have this 'enormous' baby and I was terrified how I was going to get him out. He weighed in at 7lb 6 :) Turns out he was just very, very long and took up a loada room!! xxx

I measured on the 90th percentile at 28 weeks.

At 31 weeks I'm between the 50-90 percentile lines.

So I'm being sent for a growth scan.

As far as I can tell the bump measurements are quite inaccurate.

Ive been measuring a week ahead even on scans but the consultant has said baby is gonna be between the 50th and 90th centile and that measuring the fundal height is just a guess and is mildly inaccurate. Dont get panicking chick. You'll be fine. If they think ur fundal height is inconsistent with ur dates then they will send you for a growth scan :)
Ive got a growth scan a week Monday to check on how much shes weighing now as my youngest boy was 6lb 11oz and they said that its small for how big my others were which I dont think it is tbh I measured spot on with my daughter and she was 8lb 11oz and a day late so id defo say they arent always right x x
