May 2017 Mummies *NEW*

Lol Ery!

I'll just have to see what Tesco has to offer and maybe make do with a size up until I can get some proper maternity gear sorted.

I think I might have a little bumpy on the go too. What do you think?

definitely there. Its nice isn't it. We have waited so long for all of this xx

I am getting a cold, blocked nose, earache etc. The only thing I can take is paracetamol isn't it? How on earth have I caught a cold when I don't leave the house!!! xx

I sympathise lisey. A week on and my cold is only now starting to clear up. Luckily I was off all this week and took full advantage and rested. I took paracetamol about 3 times and that was it. I took extra long steamy showers though, and that helped. I'm tempted to invest in a humidifier just in case I get another one. I also used saline nasal spray and warm compresses on my sinuses. It helped to provide temporary relief, but I don't think it helped to speed up recovery. Lots of rest, water, hot water with honey and lemon or hot tea with honey.

Hope you feel better soon. Colds suck.

Thanks, I absolutely hate honey or lemon in drinks but I will force it down if the cold gets bad. Might also try steam too. Hopefully it won't get too bad. Glad yours is starting to clear up xx

I know its early but does anyone have advice on preparing a dog for babys arrival? My dog is a bit of a baby and likes lots of cuddles. He is quite protective of me and recently when my cousin came around with her baby, he didn't like me holding her.
He is only a little dog and he has a cuddly and lovely nature but this will be all new for him. I won't leave him alone with baby of course. The dog that we lost recently would have been amazing with baby and as she was leader of the pack, he would have followed suit xx

Closer to baby's arrival (weeks before) start bringing things downstairs like the Moses basket, pram etc and leave them out so little pooch can get used to the smells and what they look like. Plus any swing chairs etc you might use in the early days. If it will change where he sleeps or his routine they change these things before baby comes along. If you have any friends with babies ask them to come round? You could play a baby crying to him a few times too? So he gets used to the noise? When baby comes along it will be important to make a fuss of him at the same time (if/where possible)

That's all I can think of for now! But will keep thinking x we will be in the same situation x

hi girls hope everyone's OK today. done loads of housework ready for the kids to go back to school tomorrow and doing a roast later for dinner. cleaned the house just going to take the kids out for a bit it's cold outside today tho!

Thanks Lou, those are great suggestions. Will do all of those. My cousin will come with her baby often. He was fine with her and sniffed the baby when my cousin was holding her, just didn't like me holding her. I will be sure to give him lots of fusses too when baby comes. He sleeps in our room at the moment, we haven't discussed if that will change, don't really think it needs to, he won't be able to get into babys crib/cot etc. Will have to discuss that with OH though xx

Nikki, sounds like a busy day :) It is cold out today, I don't even want to get the washing off the line its that cold. My Mum took my son out which is nice as I am not feeling up to it myself. She is also making us a roast for dinner, looking forward to it yum xx

Haha! So do they wear a vest, then a sleepsuit over the top? Do they need any other clothes? I suppose it depends how warm it is. Do I need cardigans and socks?

Snowbee, I actually just googled this exact question this morning! I've seen my brother and sis in law dress my nephew but for the life of me I couldn't remember if they put him in a vest and then a sleepsuit!

I've done a bit of a maternity clothes shop online this morning, so couldn't resist adding a couple of vests for baby to my basket!

I've woken up with a cold! Feeling poop!

I just want to sleep but Cam wants to carve pumpkins!

Lisey I work with dogs for a living. I'll note down some advice for you (and anyone else) when I'm feeling less icky.

Emily. That would be amazing. Hope you feel better soon xx

Hey ladies,

I've been out and bought some over the bump jeans from H&M today - it was the only shop I could actually find maternity clothes in; loads of places just had them all online. I've also won a pair of jeans on ebay this arvo for a fiver.

Had a quick look at prams too, I don't know what to go for. I'd love a bugaboo but they are SO expensive. I quite like the look of the Doona but I'm not sure how I feel about the no lie-flat option.

I ordered a baby quilt/blanket yesterday - I have wanted one since my daughter was born so over 5 years ago. Found one in great condition on eBay for half the retail price too!

Has anyone done the big FB announcement yet? I don't think we're bothering this time. We've told all our family and close friends and that's all that matters really.

We've had a kid-free day today so hubs and I popped to the big shopping centre earlier (for aforementioned big trousers) but I felt so knackered we didn't stay long. I've been curled up on the couch for the last hour doing absolutely nothing, so I should probably get off my arse and do something before the kids get back!

I'm 12 weeks tomorrow now, as my scan put me back (though I don't know how she's worked that out as it would mean I conceived 6 days after my period finished... don't think so!) but I know it's just a guess-timation - I was two weeks late with my son!

Hope you're all having a lovely Sunday x
