We bought a second hand cot so also need to buy just a mattress and I don't know where to start!

as far as i am aware as long as mattress new your fine and somewhere like tesco has to stick by the guidlines so i would say that mattress be fine

I bought my last mattress from the Glasgow pramcentre of all places. It was a Mamas & Papas one & for a fraction of the price of from Mamas & Papas. I would always buy the best possible mattress you can for your money as little ones spend so much time using them. I chose a breathable mattress that was sprung. The cover came off for washing & my son used it until he was about 4 with it being a cotbed. Poor mattresses can cause flat head syndrome in babies & I was always worried about SIDS too so wanted the best my money could by.

We got the dual air-flow one from babies 'r' us - currently half price at about £65. Wanted a really good one.
