The media attention won't help is what I'm saying, it'll make it more difficult to find her. We all know what she looks like now so stop the coverage so the filthy jerk will come out of hiding. He aint gonna show his (or her) mug whilst everybodies looking for her. I can understand why they want her face everywhere, but it's not helping it's hindering.

I have to agree with this exactly....its funny cos i been out with my mum today...and we where saying the exact same thing.. whoever is responsible will not come out of hiding with all the coverage.. its only when it stops.. they'll think their safe to come out!! so yep..i agree with you!

I also think its about time the parents came back to england with the other 2 children ..they need some sort of normality ..routine if you like! The parents are saying they dont want to leave Portugal as its the last place they where with Maddy..which is understandable.. but if thats the case..why are they touring Europe... without the other 2 kids might i add!???

This is what OH and I were talking about the other day. Whoever took her is going to keep her hidden, because of all the whooharr. Dont get me wrong I think its great that people are awear all over the world, but its bad in a way because whoever has taken her doesnt want to get caught and that means he wont set her free

Media intervention in things like this always baffle me

British kids get abducted thankfully rarely. However , it's interesting who the media choose to follow.

I remember about the time Sarah Payne was abducted another little girl called Rosie was taken on her way to an ice-cream van, also sadly found later murdered. She was only 3 at the time, and it was headline news but only for a couple of days. Rosie was ginger and wore big, thick glasses.

The victims who seem to grab the biggest headlines often seem to be white, blond little girls: Madeleine, Sarah Payne, Jessica and Holly. It an absolute, horrendous tradegy that any child be taken, but why do we hear more about some than others?

I know we might think Madeleine has been taken by some poor childless couple or even some lone peodophile but it's just as likely if not more so that she was targeted for the sex trade and will be very difficult to trace

I've ignored the billions of 'Find Maddie' emails and avatar crazes etc as I fail to see how they will help at all, but I can understand how some people might feel better for having them. It's every parent's nightmare

As for what you said Minxy in regards to who the media decide to follow.. i agree completely! Altho this is an awful thing that has happened...and i truely wouldnt wish it upon any child... Rosie was taken about 20 mins from where i live.. certainly not much coverage there! After speaking with my mum about Maddy ... mum said apparently another child was taken from somewhere about 2 months ago also and still hasnt been found... where this happened i have no idea....I HAVENT SEEN ANYTHING IN THE MEDIA!!!

Please dont start throwin stones at me here.. but as hard as i try..i find it very hard to feel sorry for Maddys parents.. I still cant get my head around the fact that they went out leavin 3 children alone.. while they went for a meal when there was a babysitting service available to them! They now admit to not checkin on them after 30 mins... but after an hour! Its Maddy i feel for...! I wonder if.. i leave 3 children in the house alone and go to the pub at the back of my house.. i get a tour of Europe in a loaned private jet for my travels .. and get to meet the pope... i doubt it.. id probably get the children taken off me for child neglect!!!!!

Theres another 2 children involved in all of this who are too young to fully understand what has gone on... they need normality and stability.. would the best thing for them not be to bring them home.. and to be with their parents!!??

Very true, I agree with you Clasper. I do feel however that the media attention surrounding this case can have a positive effect on the public as a whole. I really think it will change us all forever. It's been a wake up call for all parents.
I for one have never before given much thought to the horrors of peadophile rings, Thailand, the sex trade of young children. I guess it was something just too horrible to think about so I just didn't. Sure I've been aware of children being abducted, and it breaks my heart every time, but this time seems to have really struck a nerve, it's made me open my eyes to the true horrors of the world and has probably turned me into a paranoid parent.
If it's affected others the way it has me, and I'm sure it has, then many parents will be EXTRA vigilant from this point onwards. Before I may have let Molly go for an ice cream by herself, now I definitely won't. If this new awareness saves one child from being snatched, it's been worth it.

I have mine merely to show support as I cannot even begin to imagine what they are going through. Everytime I think of that happening to Kieran, I have to stop because it knots my stomach and makes me feel physicallly sick- and that's just thinking about it...
