Hi ladies,

A bit of background, we have been ttc for 12 months although I’ve only had 8-9 cycles in that time because my cycles vary from 28-60 days!

We’ve been referred to a fertility clinic and are currently waiting for dh to do a sa.
I was diagnosed with pcos when I was 15 and all of my sisters have needed ivf to conceive due to pcos .

I have had 2 chemical pregnancies which gives me hope that I am ovulating at least some of the time although I have lost both only a few days after my period was due. I spot consistently through my lp.

Anyway, has anyone used Maca root and found it helpful at balancing hormones/ egg quality? As IVF is no longer free in my early I’m trying all avenues!

Thanks for reading the waffle above x

I too am interested in trying maca root, I’ve heard it has a very high vitamin and mineral content which surely can only be good for egg quality, I might get some this week and start it,

I’ve heard good things about coq10 for egg quality too

There seems to be some kind of postcode lottery going on with NHS IVF and it’s terribly unfair, hope you get your sticky bfp soon :)

I love and swear by Maca, I think that plus eating Whole30 have done wonders to regulate my hormones/mood/energy. Sending so much love and luck your way.

I've always been told by my holistic fertility lady that maca tablets are a good balancer, and harmless (ie sometimes when you are taking a lot of supplements they tell you to be wary of some, but this one was something she said I could take with any of my current supps).

Have you tried something called ino-folic? It comes in sachets. My friend with PCOS took it shortly before conceiving...I don't know anything about it myself so maybe google it but apparently it helps with pcos! xx

Inofolic is folic acid and inositol

I like Maca and used to have the same issues with spotting. It's not as bad now but I'm not sure why really. Maca does help - also metformin. The best thing I found to stop the spotting was chromium.

My cycles are short and I will soon be trying ovarian drilling xx

Thanks ladies, this is really helpful. I think I will try it and I’ve ordered some. I’ll try for a few months and see if I notice any didfeeence. My hormones and sending my emotions all over the place so hopefully it will at least balance those out!

I’ll let you know how I get on.

I tried it and it messed up my cycles big time. I was regular but wanted to try it ...be careful it is a powerful herb
