Hey ladies

Had an awful flare last night after overdoing it for the whole weekend. Got in to bed and lay on my side as had quite a lot of moderate pain down my left side, across the ribs and down to my hip.
It got so bad really suddenly, to a point where I couldn't move my left leg without excruciating pain so bad it made me shake all over.
After 10mg or diazepam and 40 mins of it getting worse we had to call an ambulance. I was desperate for a wee but couldn't even roll over in bed, was crying by time ambulance arrived because was that scared I was going to wet the bed!
They hooked me up to gas and air and then took me to hospital. Obv they couldn't do anything but confirmed the baby was fine and it was just a flare from doing too much. After 6/7 hours they filled me up on gas again and sent me home to sleep.

Was wondering if anyone else with fibro, lupus or similar gets bad flare ups during pregnancy? How do you cope if you push yourself too far and end up having a flare like I did? Is there anything that works for the pain because I have nothing that helps!

I am going to stalk this thread as I have slipped in to an awful flare and there is nothing that I have done so far that has eased the pain. I just had an hours massage therapy with a friend of mine and she had to stop in the end because she could feel me getting more and more painful and tight! She was worried I would break something!

Pre-pregnancy I would normally have had a hot bath, taken some codeine and paracetamol, put the electric blanket on and gone to bed :(

So one paracetamol it is and lay in a cold bed. Oh the joys of chronic illness. I want to enjoy my pregnancy :(

Why can't you use the electric blanket or have a nice warm bath? You can actually use codeine in pregnancy. They gave it to me in hospital and my specialist has told me I can take it if needed - I just choose not to at the moment but when the flare gets really bad I will. Don't suffer for no reason babe, if you can make yourself even slightly better it will benefit baby too x

I have been told the heat is too risky. Oh god if I can have a hot bath I will run it now! I am desperate!
My doctor told me I can get codeine if it gets too bad and today I feel bad enough to take it. I am in absolute agony today. My eyes are bloodshot it is that bad. I have work at 1 until 6.30 and I am not sure I will manage to do it. I am struggling to sit up.
Its so horrible :(

Warm baths are fine just make sure someone's around in case you feel light headed. Don't make the water hit enough to turn your skin pink but I've had hot baths and hot water bottles even all through pregnancy, my specialist recommends it! X

I had a bath! It was so nice but hasn't made any difference. I am just so stiff and muscles so tight, its giving me a headache.

I will try the electric blanket tonight on low to see if it helps at all. I have to go to work soon so I can't get too comfy now otherwise I won't move.

I think I might have to book in to discuss pain with my GP. I am only 1/4 of the way through and I am struggling!

Thanks for the support Sarah x

That's ok babe. If it helps, the first trimester was hell for me but feel a lot better generally after 14 weeks. A hot water bottle is a life saver at night too :)

Oh that's good to hear. I can't wait to get the first trimester out of the way. Hoping I can enjoy the 2nd and 3rd. A lady I work with said her first trimester was awful. She had HG though and was signed off for 6 weeks. I am lucky that I have only had one day of sickness so far.
