I went and saw my GP yesterday and he said my BP was low 100/70 but didnt suggest anything and i feel quited cheated!

Has anyone else had this?

Do you think my MW will say any different?

Yes! My bp has always been the lower end of normal and I have trouble with dizzy spells etc. Went to midwife and GP and they said it was nothing to worry about but apparently the cause is that because our bodies are producing a lot more extra blood for baby to grow that it's the adjusting to this that is causing these symptoms. Because your bp is low you'll be feeling it more as your blood pumps slower than a higher bp.
Basically keep well hydrated, have a wee snack in your bag at all times in case you feel dizzy and when a spell comes on just take a seat and wait for it to pass..
Hope I helped! x

Hi claire, thanx for the advice, its nice to know im not making it up xxx

My BP was 90/57 with the midwife and she didn't bat an eyelid! Think your BP drops in second tri. Hope your feeling better soon. Xxx

my bp has been 100/60 all the way through pregnancy, mw isnt bothered as its a good bp for me x

I've been having the same symptoms for weeks, been getting dizzy/lightheadedness, seeing red spots in my eyes, and weird stuff like that, but I went to triage and they checked my blood pressure, it was 100/70, like yours and they said well that's fine no need to worry.
But the symptoms continued and then I went to mw week before last and she measured it at 100/60 and still said it was fine. I don't feel fine! She suggested getting my eyes tested :s I wear glasses already and I would probably know if it was related to my vision.
No help whatsoever, but you're not the only one!! xx

Hi,

Ive been getting dizzy spells/ light headed and have passed out a few times, saw my gp about it last week and he put it down to the m/s and told me to see him again in a wk, went back and saw the locom dr, he did my b/p checked my unire, then took my b/p as i stood up, and said ' hmm it drops quiet abit when you stand, have you gone dizzy' my reply was yes, which i had. he said with the extra volume of the pregnancy the vessels dont react as quick as they would do normally which is why im getting the dizzy spells, hes advised me to increase the amount of water i take up to 3-4lts (ouch my poor bladder) and just to try standing up more slowly. he also said it could be a side effect to the pregnancy which could go on its own or last till i give birth. As a result it put me in an awkward position at work, last thing i need is to pass out on an elderly person and give them a heart attact :( plus as its my second wk off now work dont seem too happy about it. Hope this helps you.

My BP is usually around 125/75 pre pregnancy. Since being pregnant I sit at around 90/60; quite normal to have a drop - blooming hormones! All good advice the girls have posted above. Hope the dizziness improves for you. x

This could explain why I have been feeling so faint and dizzy lately too....dunno what my blood pressure is, they never tell me any time I get it checked. seems like low blood pressure is to be expected during pregnancy though, so they prob dont even give it a second thought unless it is alarmingly low or high! xx

Thanx girls, its nice to know that im not the only one. Ive taken your advice and made sure im drinking more and keeping snacks readily available. Hope we all feel better soon xxx

I keep feeling light headed too, but have put it down to the hot weather, will mention it to mw when I see her, but not seeing for another 2 weeks x x
