LO has Dads surname.

But has said he wants nothing to do with her, have this in writing.

I'm planning on going on holiday later this year. Now, I've read that I need permission from him for her passport? I've already been told I need to wait 6/12 months before I can change her name but is there ANYTHING I can do to speed this process up?

Thanks for any help!

No idea, can you phone the passport office?

I have no idea and would advise the same to talk to the passport office.

"For passport advice, call 0300 222 0000 (calls to 0300 numbers are charged at your network provider's standard national rate). The line is open from 8.00am - 8.00pm Monday to Friday, and from 9.00am - 5.30pm weekends and public holidays."

I don't know eithe rhon but hope you find out and manage to get something sorted

I'd just suggest keeping on top of them.

I wish more girlies that weren't married gave their own surname to the baby, instead of giving it the father's.

My sister gave her partners name to the baby and it's rediculous as she spends all her time looking after the baby while he just dodges responsibility.

I really hope you get to sort it out sooner rather than later xx

If you take it in writing to your solicitor, they can change her name by deed poll before you apply for the passport I thought.

We did this with my 2 stepdaughters passports before we re-applied for them...

You can change babys name by deed poll.. or if father doesnt want anything to do with baby he can sign something and you can change it on babys birth certificate too. Im doing this at the moment but the other way round.. my son has my surname as he always travels with me etc but now Im married to his father we are trying to get his dad put on the birth certificate and his name changed. Its really easy actually you should phone up wherever baby was registered and ask.

My daughter has her dads surname and he has never had to sign anything for her to get a passport. Last one she got was in 2009.My friends daughters have there dads name and he lives in Spain and she has got them passports without the dad signing anything, I just looked and it says only one parent needs to sign the application

The only problem i have is when i actually go away i have been questioned by immigration about her father knowing she is out of the country (he just writes a letter).

Would your ex write a letter about it? With that and the letter you say you have stating he wants nothing to do with his own child, I'm surfe they'd do something - if you don't try one of the better suggestions already made :)

I hated my girl having her dads surname but his family pushed for it. So we ended up married too, which he didnt even want, and 5 months later I was separated. And stuck with his surname.

This baby will have her dad's surname but I WANT to marry him (looking at 2013 though) and hopefully it'll all work out better!
