Lip tie

Hey,

Anyone ever come across lip tie?

I think my lo may have it. Her lips go white after feeds and I've had a look in her mouth and the joining bit goes low on her gums.

If it is lip tie how is it treated?

I've no experience but perhaps ask your health visitor to have a look

My lo had a tongue tie and I thought he might have had a lip tie as well as the joining bit is also quite low on his top gum. I had him checked by a specialist practitioner who confirmed he doesn't have a lip tie but even if he had had one the current guidelines are not to treat lip ties x

Oh really? Do they not think it creates any further complications? My lo has troubles latching and her lips go white after feeding, I did the dreaded google and the thing that came out most is lip tie. I couldn't find any English sites that say about how it's treated x

Should have said also difficulty latching could be tongue tie, you'll find loads of info on the MM website x
