I mentioned the other day that I have been battling with leg cramps.... I had one Tuesday morning which was excruciatingly painful (I thought I had a high pain threshold but I was in tears).

Now I feel like I have pulled a muscle and I have been Goggling (I know slap me now). Blood clots have been mentioned a few times and I am worried:shock:… do you think I should go an get it checked out? xx

I used to get leg cramps in the night and they are sooooo painful - but only got them when I stopped having a banana a day. Apparently potassium is good for it. Nearly had one the other day but moved my leg quickly so it didn't result in a pulled muscle. I ALWAYS get cramp now if I've sat on the floor with my legs crossed or something, get pins & needles then cannot move for about 5 mins cos I'm in agony. I can't even have anyone look at me or touch me cos it hurts so much - so I feel your pain!!

I have had funny feelings in my legs and I'm going to mention it to midwife next week at 24 wk appt so maybe it would be a good idea to speak to your midwife. My mum is a nurse and told me to keep my legs elevated when possible and do a lot of walking. Also you can get those funny pressure socks which you could wear at night to help the blood flow xx

Hi , I recommend getting magnesium oil (you can get it from amazon as well as places like boots) and spraying on your legs - magnesium deficiency is extremely common and leg cramps or restless legs a classic sign . Alternatively you can add a few big handfuls of Epsom salts which is magnesium sulphate to a nice warm bath and get relief that way.

I know magnesium is fine as I actually have to inject daily (and doctor happy for me to carry on while pregnant ) - without it my muscle spasms are bad!

Hope it helps x

I've been getting them at night to!, i just keep thinking if im rolling around in agony with leg cramp whats labour going to feel like! lol x

Step away from the google lol

I have only ever had cramp whilst being pregnant.

With my son it was really bad, if I could I would've thrown myself out of bed sometimes they were so bad in the night lol

This tme they are just as bad and are actually leaving an after-pain. My OH suffers from cramp alot and I said to him my leg hurts when I walk from where cramp was and he said that's normal, it happens to him. I said I can feel where all the 'cramp sites' are and he said that was normal too.

Honestly, he's suffered for the 10 years we've together and he's fine so I think we'll be ok.

DON'T GOOGLE lol

Honestly though, if you worried, speak to MW or GP but I'm sure all is fine.

Leg cramps are common in pregnancy. I normally suffer from them but during pregnancy has been worse. Started eating a banana each day (this is a major thing for me cos I detest the things) and they seem to have lessened :)

They are horrible aren't they. I can't eat bananas as I'm allergic to all fresh fruit (yes I'm weird) but what I have found helps is stretching and a really stiff massage of the muscle affected has helped the last two nights.

It's agony, it migrated down to my feet and my toes were locked for ages, horrendous.
Hope yours go soon hunni xx

Bananas can't work for me coz I always eat one every day anyways and I'm still getting the cramps  I didn't get any last night, but this morning my right calf on the outter side aches so bad like I did have cramp, so frustrating.

Oh well, will be worth all the pain in the end

I really feel for all of you!! Thank you for your replies, bananas don't seem to work for me either because I eat one most days!!

My muscle seems like it is easing slowly because I have been doing a bit more yoga over the last few days. I was starting to worry that it was more serious.

First Baby I get the toe cramps too, there less painful for me but so difficult to get rid of!!

Xx

Luckily I haven't really been suffering with this but I had crampy legs for a few days about 2 weeks ago.
I got hubby to massage them, which really really helped! He wasn't afraid to go too hard and it felt amazing and really worked out the cramp.

Get ur OH on the case lol. Hope they ease for u ladies soon x

I find that instead of leg cramps I just get restless legs. It's hard enough to sit still for long and then along come the restless legs. I think I'll try that magnesium oil, Harrycat and hope it works!

I had both leg cramps and restless legs, once I started having abit of salt in my dinners (don't normally have any salt) they went

I feel your pain! I got leg cramps fairly frequently but I just upped the amount of water I drank in the day and they eased so much! :). Could be the 'not enough salt' thing too. My toes still cramp though...they look so funny when they do! I don't know whether to laugh or cry the whole time!!!
